Since Melissa had come to the RED base, two new mercenaries joined the team. The first one was an Aussie named Richard Mundy. His experience as a sniper and an assassin had caught the attention of Saxton Hale and Redmond Mann. The first day Sniper had come to the base, he kept to himself and would grumble insults at his new co-workers. At first, Melissa would avoid him due to his stand-offish attitude. She could tell that he was introverted by his scowls that he would give her. However, one day after a rough battle, she was down in the medbay helping Medic care for the wounded. Sniper died during said battle but was revived thanks to the doctor's research and a special procedure. Melissa stood next to the assassin, trying to keep him company while he tried to get her to leave. "Oi'm not some little joey that you should fuss over." He argued. "I know, but I can't have you die without the real doctor here." Melissa retorted. "He doesn't want to buy any body bags just because you flat lined on the operating table." She pulled up a chair to Sniper's bedside and sat down. "Could you tell me about where you are from and the jars that you drink lemonade out of?" "That's not... lemonade..."
The second one was a skinny boy named Jeremy. Born and raised in Boston, he was the youngest son of a rather large family. His inhuman speed made him especially good at scouting missions and got him a job at Reliable Excavations and Demolitions. Unlike Sniper, Scout was a huge chatterbox that was honestly quite annoying. Melissa spoke with him on his first day, mainly because she saw Spy with a look on his face that suggested that he wanted to use him for knife practice. Scout was the closest thing she had to an older brother. He and Melissa would watch TV, drink cans of Bonk Atomic Punch, and sometimes tease each other.
For the last eighteen years, before the start of a mission, Melissa would have to stay in the dormitory for her own safety. When they came home, they would take turns walking with her outside of the RED base since she was not allowed outside alone. Then she would help Medic and Engineer out until dinner time. That was how her life was, until one day...

A/N: Well this was a difficult chapter to write. I tried to incorporate lore from the comics here, and hope that this long chapter will satisfy you until the next one.
