I woke up shivering. Webby was hogging her comforter. I couldn't tell if I had been asleep for long, but I felt refreshed. I was glad that she had finally got some sleep too.
I yawned and pulled myself out of bed. I woke her up in the process. She blinked at me.
"What time is it?" she yawned.
"Late. Want some food? The others probably made something for themselves," I asked. She nodded. "I'm going to change. Met me in the kitchen."
Slowly, I made my way to my room. I was still half asleep when I walked in and almost didn't notice the person at my desk. I was at the closet, when I paused.
"Don't stop on my account," Nega-Scrooge chuckled.
"What are you doing in here?" I asked, turning to look at him.
"I was told to come fetch you, but I was thinking of stalling you instead." He stood and closed the gap between us.
"You don't have a good track record of stalling me," I mumbled.
I turned towards the exit, abandoning my thoughts of changing, but he grabbed my arm. I went to blast him, but he immediately released me.
"I'm not here to fight," he whispered.
We both knew the probability of there being a camera in my room was next to none, but he wanted to make me doubt.
"Ya need to relax, Doll," he chuckled, and tried to touch my face. I pulled away and he stepped back. "Though stalling you is only half the story. I don't want to see that ghalla either."
"Is that fear?" I mocked.
"Nonsense," he huffed and sat on the bed. "Now, weren't you changing?"
I stomped to the closest and ripped something off the hanger. I changed in the bathroom, and he was gone when I came back out. He hadn't told me where they were or who he had been sent to fetch me. Though I was hungry so I made an executive decision and marched to the kitchen, where I found Beakley, Nega-Scrooge, and Finch standing tense. I forgot my hunger.
"What's going on?" I asked.
"We found a mole," Nega-Scrooge said. I looked at Beakley.
"She hacked into our cameras to spy on us before she left and FOWL piggy backed off her signal," Beakley explained.
"It did me no good. I was cut off immediately. They have someone good working for them," Finch huffed.
We knew Gandra was a double agent working with Fenton, but she didn't have information we did. I was just impressed that Finch could hack into Scrooge's system.
"Where are the kids?" I asked, making sure they were okay.
"The triplets and Boyd went to Funzo's. The twins, Gladstone, and company are in the boathouse," Beakley listed.
"Alright. What are we doing about her?" I turned back to the situation at hand.
"We hadn't gotten that far, Love. What do you suggest?" Nega-Scrooge asked. "I know you had some ideas for the magical brat."
"Scrooge!" Finch made a horrified face.
"You broke my trust, Finch. What else are we supposed to do?" Nega-Scrooge spat.
"Report me to the authorities. Don't turn me over the whims of a human," she hissed.
"Right," Beakley pulled out a set of handcuffs, "we'll let SHUSH deal with you."
I knew better than to say what I was thinking, which was if they're still around, why hadn't we gone to them for help? Then again, she could be bluffing and that question could derail the whole thing.
