No road is long with good company.

-Edward pulled up to Aris's house at exactly 7:30 am, a surge of something flowing around his stomach. Butterflies, perhaps? Whatever it was, it felt good, and he didn't want it to go away any time soon.
Aris quickly bid her family goodbye, exiting the house with excitement flowing through her veins. Her heart beat rapidly, and it just increased all the more when she saw him. He was standing outside of the passenger door, holding it open for her with a soft smile on his face.
She waved, bouncing up to him and quickly throwing her suitcase in the back of the car by his, before climbing into the passengers' side.
"You sure seem excited this morning." Edward noted, starting the car.
"Well, why wouldn't I be? I'm about to spend a week with my favorite person in the world." She sarcastically joked, causing him to roll his eyes.
"Don't be crude, I know you're just excited to get rid of those nightmares." He scoffed.
They backed out of the driveway, Edward immediately hitting the gas and surging the car forward at a speed of 80 mph, which was gradually increasing by the minute.
"You're an absolute maniac." Aris scoffed, eyeing the speedometer.
He shrugged.
"Never been in an accident in all of my 134 years."
"Perks of being a vampire I guess." She tsked.
"Trust me, the cons outweigh the pros," he contrasted, "which you'll soon realize, with you being a vampire carrier yourself. If you continue to spend as much time with me and my family as you have been, I wouldn't be surprised if you turn full vampire within the next few years."
Aris hummed, not having the energy to actively lie to him right now. She knew the time was coming where she'd have to tell him her secret. He was bound to notice if she never got a blood craving, or that her color changing skin was just becoming more prominent over time, rather than starting to sparkle like that of a vampire.
"What are the cons?" She asked, not wanting to change the subject, but not wanting to have to talk about her being a "vampire carrier".
"Well, obviously the craving for blood isn't something we enjoy, at least not me personally," he turned to her, searching for any sign of repulsiveness. He wasn't used to talking to people who weren't full vampires about the details of what it entailed. "Constantly having to lie to everyone isn't fun either. Though, you understand that as well." Aris choked on the water she was sipping on, turning to him with wide eyes. Did he know that she was lying to him about being a vampire carrier? "You know, not being able to tell your friends at school about you being a carrier?" He explained, confused by her sudden reaction.
Aris huffed a sigh of relief, immediately feeling stupid. It was hard continuously having to lie to Edward, with her guilty conscience making her paranoid about everything. It also didn't feel right, especially after he told her about Bella Swan. If he had trusted her enough to tell her about his biggest secret, shouldn't she trust him with hers?
She vowed to herself that she would tell him, but first she wanted to get to know him better. They'd known each other for several months now, so you'd assume that they'd be fairly close, but the truth was, it was very complicated. For example, Aris knew Edward's biggest secret, but she didn't even know his favorite color. She trusted him with her life, but she didn't trust him with her biggest secret.
