They creep closer to the overhang
And it cracks further
I keep my hands out in front of me to keep them back
To keep them away from me
They'll be my undoing if they continue to advance
"Stop" I shout, "Don't come any closer,"
I see the pain in their eyes at my harsh words
But they stopped
They looked at me from afar and watched the cliff continue to crack
It worked, but now I'm alone
I'm all alone as the floor beneath me threatens to fall out
Like the stone, I feel myself breaking as my family turns their backs to me
They walk away without a backward glance
I accept my fate and turn away too, looking at the ocean below
I welcome it as the floor collapses
And I plummet down,
Into the freezing water,
Into my being
