Haikyuu!! Watches Their Anime (Up for Adoption)

Episode 3 Part 1

Shoes squeak inside the gym and Hinata fails to receive a ball, landing on his face.

"Oo, that doesn't feel good," Kuroo comments.

"Hey, your feet stopped short! What happened to your serve-receiving reflexes from yesterday? You need to focus!" Kageyama scolds him.

Hinata gets onto his hands and knees. "I've had enough of receiving." The background turns into a bright teal as Hinata yells, "We're running out of time, dude! I wanna spike too! I wanna jump too!"

"Go jump around then!"

"He already does, so would he just have to jump around even more?" Narita asks and Kinoshita shrugs. 

"Well, maybe he'd jump when there's no need to."

"Like I said, doesn't he do that already?"

"Then he'll jump around all the time," Kinoshita concludes, making Narita shrug.

"Hey, you guys," Tanaka interrupts them, "I should give you fair warning." Behind him, a murky blue and black background forms and a shadow goes over his eyes as he continues, "Daichi is usually gentle, but he's extremely scary when he gets angry. I mean, extremely."

The screen shows a quick flashback of Daichi's scary face.

A shiver runs down the backs of several people in the crowd and the corner of Daichi's mouth twitches up.

A navy backdrop appears. "We know," Hinata and Kageyama say together. 

"The fact they say that so surely!" Atsumu laughs. 

The background goes to normal as Tanaka says, "It won't be good if he finds out about this practice. It won't be good for me. Not that I'm scared or anything. Absolutely not. Not in the least." He shakes his head. "Anyway, we're the only ones that know about this extra-early practice, so make sure that you..."

The door is shown and it's opened. "Oh? So you are practicing already?"

"Wait a second," Daichi says, "you knew this the entire time??"

"Suga," Tanaka says as the camera shows Sugawara behind the door.

"Hey."

He's a third year.

"But, why?"

"Am I the only one who didn't know this?" Daichi asked, clearly frustrated. "What's next, Ennoshita jumping down from the window? You weren't even supposed to have practice before the match!"

"But then Kageyama wouldn't be setter," Asahi comments before waving his hands in front of him. "Not that you're not an amazing setter already, Suga!"

"Nah," Sugawara smiles, "I can understand."

"Because you were clearly acting weird yesterday," Sugawara explains. "I mean, you asked to hold on to the keys despite barely making it on time most days. Relax, I won't tell Daichi. This is like secret training or something. It's kind of thrilling."

Hinata, Kageyama, and Tanaka all visibly sigh in relief.

A small time skip occurs.

"Come and get it!" Tanaka says as he brings his arm back to spike the ball that was being set by Kageyama. The ball hits the other side of the court. "Good, that was excellent."

Meanwhile, Sugawara and Hinata are working on receiving. Hinata, distracted by Tanaka's toss, gets hit in the head by the volleyball.

"We should make a betting ring, how many times shortie gets hit in the head every day," Terushima jokes.
