Auriana's POV

"Talia. I-" Jodan sadly hung his head as Talia watched Izira laying unconscious on the bed.

"What happened?" Talia demanded.

"She just collapsed!" Jodan's tears were resurfacing, even though he had cried many times before.

Izira was pale and sickly, contrasting to her usual personality.

"Where's her Medallion?" Talia asked softly, still looking on with tears in her eyes.

"In the other room." Jodan said, pointing down the hall.

"I'll go with you," Chandler offered. She looked at him softly, but turned her head the other way.

"I need to do this by myself."

Izira barely moved. Iris held her hands to her heart, deeply worried for her.

"Jodan?" the unconscious ruler croaked. Jodan's eyes glistened with happy tears.

"We're getting you a doctor sweetheart." Jodan reassured her. She grinned.

"Don't. Call Me. Sweetheart." her breathing was lagging behind.

Talia's heels clacked down the hallway. Her eyes were angry. She clenched her fists. Chandler looked her way. She wasn't holding Izira's Medallion. Instead, a crystal bubble held it. Dark magic contaminated it. It slowly crawled over the magical medallion, as Izira coughed. Her coughing gradually got worse.

"What can we do?" I pleaded. Chandler hung his head.

"We could... use a spell."

"That just makes it worse!" Iris protested.

"I know. But if its the only way to save my wife." Jodan said. His voice was drained of all emotion as he stared quietly at Izira, who had slipped back into unconsciousness.

"We need to use the jewel that had been contaminated." Lev instructed.

"All of you stand back, in case this could go terribly wrong." Jodan ordered. Talia protested.

"Tals, if this ends up contaminating all of us, we can't do anything." Chandler put his hand on Talia's shoulder.

She shrugged them off bitterly.

"Fine." she spat.

We stepped back at least 20 paces, with Lev and Iris already against the wall.

"medaljon hins illa, losaðu þig við þennan gimstein. Flyttu sárin frá manni til manns. Verndaðu hana."

"No! That's the wrong spell!" I protested, as Jodan smiled for the last time as the spell was complete.

I stepped forward, but Lev and Nathaniel held me back.

"Jodan I can't lose you again!" I screamed. A bright, white light enveloped Jodan as it spread through the room. Amaru whimpered and ran out.

"I'm sorry, Auriana."

...

I woke up on the floor. A large ringing sound in my ears made it hard to hear the sound of licking.

I sat up, to find Amaru licking Iris' cheek. Lev, Nathaniel, and Chandler were all unconscious on the ground. Lyna, Carissa, Dawn, Iris, and Talia were waking up, but most still laid on the ground.

I gasped in realization.

"Jodan!"

I looked around, but saw nothing, only the glint of a gray reflective surface. On the floor, was his magical pendant, its magic sucked out from its very core.
