Not at all sorry for putting a Girl in Red song here
There was a loud roar in the distance, followed by a large gust of wind. Car alarms were set off, dogs were barking, and lights started flickering. "I think that might be whoever's making reality like those books—" Winter said, now standing oddly close to Qibli. "Well we should follow that roar!" Kinkajou exclaimed, standing atop a rock. "Follow it?! Are you insane?! We could get killed!" Winter shouted, flaring his wings. "Especially since we haven't mastered turning into dragons." Moon pointed out. "Oh come on!" Kinkajou said, flaring her arms. "When's the next time gonna be when we have the chance to save pyrrhia? Never! So we have to go be the heroes of our story!" Kinkajou hopped off the rock, walking around the house to her bike. "Well, she's going to need some help, I'm going with her." Moon said, jogging over to her bike. Qibli sighed, following after the two. "Qibli, you could get killed!" Said Winter, grabbing Qibli's arm. "D'aw, someone's finally caring about others!" Qibli said teasingly, Winter punching him in the arm.
"Still, we don't know what could happen!" Winter said, walking after Qibli. "Well, we could be jeopardizing the whole city if we don't see what it is." Qibli said calmly, climbing onto his bike, peddling off.
"But—" Qibli heard Winter say, before looking back and seeing him peddling after the three. "I think the roar came from the mountains," Moon said as Qibli and Winter were now side-by-side with them. "I think we should let someone else do this." Winter muttered under his breath.
"And who in their right mind would follow this roar?!" Kinkajou asked fiercely before adding, "Besides us of course. Oh hey! My shortcut's still here!" She turned into a narrow path in the forest, wide enough for two people besides each other. A shortcut? Qibli asked his mind. Maybe she used to live in the mountains when her grandparents still did?
"This's still such a stupid idea." Winter spat. "You've said that several times." Qibli said teasingly. "Well it's not my fault that it is!" Winter said defensively. "Well you can always go home if you think it's such a stupid idea." Qibli said, knowing Winter would stay anyway. Winter rolled his eyes, before Kinkajou and Moon stopped in a clearing. "The forest's too crowded to bike through," Kinkajou said, hopping off her bike. "But I think where the roar came from isn't too far."
Qibli noticed Winter looked . . . Scared? Was that even possible? "Is the Prince of Mean actually scared?" Qibli teased, earning himself a punch in the shoulder. "You still don't know anything about what just happened and you're deciding to go follow it." Winter spat, crossing his arms.
"Well, someone has to do it, and no one else is brave enough." Qibli said seriously, Winter looking almost surprised. Was that possible? "And you can hold my hand if you're so scared." Qibli added in a high voice, Winter shoving him in the arm.
"Come on you two! No time for having crushes on each other." Kinkajou said smugly. Moon smothering a laugh at the confused looks they both had.
"We're just friends though." Qibli said, punching Kinkajou playfully in the shoulder.
"Mhm, suuure." Kinkajou said, laughing. They started to head through the forest, searching for clues about the roar, while Kinkajou was still teasing Qibli and Winter about being in love.
"C'mon, Kinkajou stop." Moon said after watching her giggle. "They're in love they're just embarrassed."
Winter crossed his arms, glaring at them both before speaking. "We're not in love. And why are you both obsessed with it?"
"Because you'd both be adorable together." Kinkajou said, starting to laugh again. "Ooh! There's a cave! Maybe that's the place?"
Qibli noticed their was light coming from it, someone was either camping there, or it was where the roar was coming from. There was another roar, but it wasn't as loud as before. And . . . Turtle? What was he doing here?
"Oh hey Turtle!" Kinkajou said happily. "Did you come here to find the roar too?" Kinkajou smiled at Turtle, his light-brown skin shone in the moonlight, his green hair was messier than usual. He looked scared.
"Well— sort of. Me and Peril came." Turtle answered, looking back into the cave. "We found out what it was, but Peril told me to come find you guys since—"
"Turtle, take a deep breath." Qibli said, putting his hands on Turtle's shoulders. "Take a deep breath then explain. Now, why did you need to find us?"
Turtle nodded, taking a few deep breaths. "Peril said I should find you, because I figured you'd all know what to do."
"Is peril still in there?" Moon asked, her voice worried. Turtle nodded, leading them all back into the cave. The cave was massive, filled with claw marks, some even looked like they were counting something. There was a massive man standing in front of Peril, he has massive black wings with stars on them, he had a black tail, with one silver teardrop by both of his eyes.
He calmed once he saw Moon, he smiled, flattening his wings to his back.
"Hello, little Moonwatcher." He said in a kind voice, Peril looked back at them with a confuse expression. This's how human Turtle and Peril look since they haven't been in any other chapters :D
Peril: Short, deep red hair. (as short as Qibli and Winter's hair.) Light skin, which's always warm in a way. She often wears orange short-sleeves shirts, and black shorts. She wears those kind of sneakers that come up to your knees (almost like boots, but they resemble sneakers? I remember seeing them somewhere.)Turtle: Light-brown skin, dark-green short-messy hair. He often wears green turtle neck's and dark-green pants. He has a scar behind his ear, and freckles around his dark-green eyes. He wears plain-black sneakers. He of course tries to blend in so there isn't much note-able things about him.
