The edge of the dagger brushed against my throat, and her face was right up against mine. Her eyes made death threats to me and she whispered in my ear;
"hm?"
I stood speachless, gripping to the wall. Her elbow digged into my shoulder and she tightened her grip on me.
She could kill me with a singular motion.
But Ash gripped on to her shoulders and started to pull her away.
"Don't you touch me" She growled, gripping her weapon and continuing to point it at me.
He pulled her in to his chest, shushing her and patting her head.
"It's okay, she was just saying thanks. It's a thing friendly people do" He explained whilst running his fingers through her hair.
"She was being a little more than friendly, Ash." She gritted through her teeth, "Now get off of me, I'm supposed to be annoyed with you too"
"And why would that be?"
She raised her arm, the tip of the blade aimed at my face
"Oh, I apologize for helping someone" Ash sighed, rolling his eyes at me. I supressed the giggle in my throat, because now was not a good time to let it out.
"What even happened? You were supposed to be out looking for clothes not bringing in weaklings"
"She's not a weakling, trust me."
"Oh Ash, I get it. You just know? Like you knew with the homeless boy you took in last week? what did he turn out to be? Oh yeah I remember-"
"- She blew up a shopping centre Parker, I promise you she's not normal"
Parker. It suited her I guess.
"Wait wait wait" Parker butted in, now looking at me, "You blew up what?"
"Are you two a thing?" I asked, quickly changing the subject.
She scowled, "Why would that matter to you?"
The door opened again, this time revealing a teenage boy in shades and a straw hat, still doing the macerena to the music.
The doors closed over and the song muffled on behind them.
"Hello Ash. Parker." He nodded to both of them, "who's this?"
I shift myself from against the wall into the middle of the room.
"This is Alex. She was injured at the bombing today. I took her back to give her a chance to rest, and also to show her around" Ash explained.
"Hello Alex. I'm Vahan." He held out his hand, and I shook it. He smelt faintly of lemons, and I wondered if he had perfume on.
Vahan looked at Ash. "Will she be staying?" He turned back to me, "Does she want to stay?"
Something in my brain clicked, and my thoughts spiralled into a weird mist.
"Yes" I say automatically.
Why did I just say that? What the hell?
"What the hell? We don't even know her! She could be dangerous!" Parker complained, "She could... she could be a spy! or-or a faker! she could've lied!"
Vahan stopped for a moment to think.
"Welcome to the team!" He smiled.
Just then, Parker pulled away from Ash completely and stormed out of the hall, back into the party.
"I- I um better go get her." Ash blushed. "Sorry"
He dissapeared into the flashing lights and music.
"Vahan?" Someone asked shyly.
