~~~Remus' POV~~~
I gave Logan a small kiss.
"I'm gonna go get us some food. Be right back" I told him, stepping out of our room before he had a chance to correct my grammar.
I walked down the hall to the cafeteria. The way they do things down here is weird. We're dead. We don't need to eat or sleep. And yet almost everyone down here has time built in for it. It's because we did it our whole lives. We're in the habit. Even Satan respects that letting us keep some habits gives us a sense of normalcy that we deserve.
As I enter the cafeteria, I'm drawn out of my thoughts by a loud sob. I look around, trying to find the source of the noise, and my eyes land on a small body trembling in the corner of the room. My heart wrenches.
You might not guess it from looking at me, but I love kids. Back on Earth, my brother and his husband had a son and I always loved hanging out with him or watching him when his dads had date night. To be completely honest, I've always wanted kids of my own, but couldn't adopt because I have a bit of a questionable past.
I walk over to the kid and crouch down to get the their level.
"Hi, I'm Remus. What's your name?" I ask. The kid sniffles.
"Thomas"
~~~Logan's POV~~~
I look up from my book when I hear noises outside the door of mine and Remus' room. Specifically, I hear whispers and giggles. The door opens and I see Remus standing there with a bag of food in his right hand, his left hand holding the hand of a small child.
"Babe! I found an 8-year-old! Can we keep him?!" Remus excitedly asks, as the small boy looks around the room curiously. I glance from my boyfriend to the child at his side, then back to my boyfriend.
"I really wish we could've had a conversation about children before you brought one home, but sure" I said with a chuckle, slightly shocked at what was happening. Don't get me wrong, I love kids, and I was considering talking to Remus about possibly taking one in (there's a lot of what Remus likes to call 'Reverse-oprphanism', when a child dies and their soul gets sent down here but their parents are still alive, leaving them with nobody to care for them), but I honestly hadn't expected Remus to feel the same way.
I felt a small tug at my sleeve and looked down. "Yes?"
"Are you Logan?" the little boy asked. I nodded. "I'm Thomas. Remus told me about you when we were walking over here. He said you're really smart. I think that's cool. I like smart people" he told me.
Okay. Yep. This kid is awesome.
