Chapter 3~~~
The halls were already crowded when I walked into the school. The buses must have already dropped everyone off. Luck for me the main office wasn't hard to find at all. The only person in here besides the secretary seated behind the desk was a kid who looked pretty young, probably his first year of high school. I approached the desk noticing the name plate that read Miss. Fisher. She looked in her late twenties and plain.
"Hello, Miss.Fisher. I'm Faith Compton and I'm new. I was told to stop in here first to pick up my classes and locker number."
"Oh, Ok" she said "I remember seeing your file come across my desk first thing this morning." Sorting through papers and file folders stacked on her desk she pulled one from the middle of a stack. "You will find your schedule, locker number and combination, and a map of the school in here." and handed me the folder "Are you aware of how the Gold and Black days workout for your classes?" she asked me.
"Ummm, Honestly no. I'm not sure how that works." I replied with a confused look on my face.
"Alright, let me see your schedule... You have 8 classes total but you will only go to 4 plus lunch and SRP (Student Resource Period/ Homeroom) each day. If it is a Gold day you will go to the first 4 listed but go to SRP first. On black days you go to the other 4 but SRP last. Gold and Black days alternate everyday so you will start today, a Gold day, then tomorrow will be a Black day. Each of your classes last 1hour and 15minutes except for lunch and SRP with are a hour each. I know it seems confusing but I'm sure you will catch on quick." she smiled at me.
"Ok thanks, I think I get it." I returned her smile and headed for the door.
"One more thing before you go", she stopped me, "On Friday the counselor will pull you out of SRP for a meeting. Its just to check in on you and make sure you are adjusting alright. Its something we do with all new students." I nodded in understanding and headed out the door.
Ok that part was easy, off to find my locker. The lockers didn't start until after you walked past the office so at least I had a start on which way to go. The halls had cleared out for the most part while I was in the office so I didn't have to fight my way through a mass of students not knowing where I was going. I looked in the folder and found a piece of paper with my locker number and combo on it and also pulled out my map of the school. The map of course was no help at all so I started walking and repeating, "Number 753, 753, 753..." . I came to an intersection in the hall and looked at the numbers on the gold and black lockers. They started with 700 and kept going up from there to my left so I started walking again. "Found it, yay" I said out loud before realizing I was talking to myself again. I tried my combo 16-08-29 and got it on the first try. Today was starting off pretty good. I didn't actually have anything to put in so I shut the door and looked at my schedule... SRP with Mr. Vincent.
I finally found the class I was looking for a few minutes after the bell had already rang. There was a black plaque with gold lettering next to every door. Mr. Vincent room 106. Everything in this school was either gold or black or both, they must be big on school spirit. I took a deep breath let it out in a long sigh and opened the door to let myself in. Thankfully Mr. Vincent hadn't started class yet, everyone was either still in groups talking or sitting at a desk looking board. I looked around for a safe place to sit and saw two girl sitting near the back looking at me and gestured for me to come over. "Hi, I'm Faith. Thanks for waving me over I didn't know where to sit" I told them with a friendly voice. I'm sure they had seen the relief on my face when they waved me over.
