It was the night before the start of the term, and Harry woke up from another nightmare, panting slightly.

He immediately grabbed the tape recorder Y/N had given him and pressed play. Y/N's voice started playing quietly, soothing him a bit, but he still felt off.

Sighing, he put his glasses back on his nose and walked to the common room.
He wasn't surprised to find Y/N there.

Her hair was mussed from sleep, and she was standing in between the couches, pointing her wand at a pillow.

"Y/N?"

"Shhh," she said, her brows scrunched in concentration.

She kept her want pointed at the pillow, unwavering. After a few moments, it flew to her hands.

"Yes!" she laughed as quietly as possible.

Harry sat down on the couch and laughed back at her. "What are you doing?"

"Practicing my non-verbal spell," she said, still smiling triumphantly. She sat down on the couch opposite to Harry and hugged the pillow to her chest.

"Merlin, we're third year students, Y/N." Harry shook his head in disbelief.

"So?" she just shrugged.

Harry shook his head again. "Talking to you about this matter is almost as bad as talking to Hermione."

"You don't want to let her hear that," Y/N chuckled. "Almost as bad? Does that mean that I'm better?"

Harry gave her a mocking frown. "I didn't say that."

"But you implied," Y/N laughed, and Harry grumbled quietly.

"What are you doing here?" Y/N asked him. "Can't sleep?"

"Yeah, the usual. You?"

Y/N nodded. "Same thing for me too."

"The music box didn't help?" Harry asked her, worried.

"No. It usually does, though. I'm just more nervous this night, I guess."

Harry scoffed at that. "Honestly Y/N, when are you not nervous?"

Y/N gave him a sour look. "I said more nervous, not nervous."

Harry opened his mouth, then closed it again. "Fair point."

Y/N gave him a grin. "What about my tape recorder? Didn't help?"

"No. I guess I'm having the same problem as you."

"Copycat much?"

"Sod off," Harry laughed. "How did you record in that thing?"

Y/N gave him a confused look. "I pressed the record button?"

"Merlin, no," Harry laughed. "I meant, I've never seen you- or heard you record that."

"Oh," Y/N laughed as well, and her pendant began changing to the royal blue of Ravenclaw. "I used the Muffliato Charm and closed the curtains of my bed when we're not studying together."

Y/N had tinkered with the two necklaces, and she had fashioned it to be a double stacked necklace of some sort, merging the two chains together. The pendant that Dumbledore had given her was higher up her neck, visible even with the collar of her uniform up. Meanwhile, the key pendant was lower than the gem, sometimes tucked underneath her clothes.

Harry gave her an impressed nod. "That's clever. I really think you will fit well in Ravenclaw."

"Already regretting my decision on staying here, Harriet?" Y/N grinned at him.
