Eventually, everyone ends up having secrets. Maybe it isn't intentionally a secret, but it turns out as such anyway. A child could snatch a candy from the countertop of a sweet store and stuff it hastily into their pocket, their lips sealed in a temporary vow of silence of the sin. An elder could destroy something precious due to ignorance, doing their best to ignore or hide it ever existed in the first place. It's a horrible thing to look or be imperfect among humans; That's why secrets are kept. As one of those flawed humans yourself, you knew that.
You knew all too well.
Your internal monologue cut itself short as you finally focused on what you were doing. Shame on you, getting distracted in the middle of a mission such as this one. Those two years of pretending and information hunting would be for naught if you were stupid enough to be found out at this point. You had found what you had been asked to retrieve, and now it was yours to take. Your eyes narrowed at the impressive padlock sealing the safe shut. The elders of your clan had told you this was a slow but simple mission; Steal the sample and notes of a certain chemical compound. Like any other mission set for a Child of The Dark like yourself, any reasons or specifics as to why they needed it, and you dared not to ask. Not a soul -- Save the Elders themselves -- Was to know specifics. They considered it classified information. You didn't find much interest in questioning, that got nothing done anyhow. A sigh escaped your lips as you looked around, giving the area a quick scan with your Haki before deeming it safe to finally rid of the lock. It wasn't that you were doing anything crazy, but your method of removal was more than likely to grab attention. You took it between both of your palms, squeezing the metal lock so it crumbled like crackers between your hands. You let the pieces fall to the floor, removing the excess binding around the steel box before rooting through your pocket to find the slip of paper you had scribbled the code on. Upon looking at the small dial that held the door shut, you winced internally. You had spent days trying codes, it would have been months had it not been for the clues you had been graced with thanks to other people's carelessness. You kneeled down next to the safe, silently entering the code in with the dial until a small click sounded out. With that, you opened the door of the box, feeling triumphant after all this time as you gazed upon the target cargo.

"I wouldn't tread there if I were you, [Name]."
Kaku's voice came. You were busy with your work, but you turned to face him nonetheless. You frowned curiously at his warning, pausing your progress.
"What makes you say that, Kaku?"
Currently, the both of you were in the middle of re-shingling a rooftop. It was rather high up, you guessed two or three stories. Either way, it wouldn't be a nice fall. Kaku chuckled lightly at your question, gesturing to the scene around you.
“Well for starters, we’re perched on a slanted roof.”
He commented, dipping the brim of his cap slightly to block out the sun. You grinned, rolling your eyes. As polite as he was, he could definitely be a smartass when he wanted to.
“As if that part wasn’t obvious.. What, are you doubting my balancing skills?”
You challenged jokingly. He giggled, giving you a playful grin.
