I stood over the side of the Bounty. My thin blanket moving slightly in the gentle summer's air. I clicked my nails over the railing, creating a small tapping noise. I couldn't sleep. I tried reading my comics but I ended up finishing them before falling asleep. So I came outside. The night was inviting. Deafening. Loud. Silent. Adventurous. Gently. Sharp. Soft. Terrifying. Exciting. That's my definition of the night. And darkness in general. I am the darkness. And the darkness is me.
" Hi, Great Grandpa." I smiled as the dragon snuck up on me. " Hello, (Y/n). Why are you awake? It's almost 3 am." He reminded me. He was concerned for he wanted me to get a good night's rest. He may be an asshole but, he can be caring to family. " I can't sleep." I wiped the perfectly clean railing. " Would an, adventure get you to sleep?" He opened his wings. I smiled, " Sounds like fun. And tiring. Sure."
The Overlord smirked and opened his wings farther. He jumped into the sky, flying into it. I summoned my dragon silently and followed him. " Why summon a dragon when you can be one!" He laughed as we flew through the sky. " And leave Grim all alone? No way... Wait I can be one?" I looked at the shadowy dragon. " You already are. But you can summon your wings. My daughter could, and I bet your mother could as well."
" How can I?" I asked, petting Grim. " I thought you said you wouldn't want to leave your dragon alone?" He remarked. " Grim is good for the public and big spaces. Small spaces and during battle, my wings could be useful." I explained as Grim made a huffing noise. " Smart girl. How you will find your wings is unknown. Ask your mother."
" She's dead." The Overlord stopped moving and flew in lace place. " Oh, my apologies. Maybe I could just give tips that I think would help?" He suggested. " Sounds good." I nodded. He started to fly again. " Perfect! First tip, focus on how your dragon is moving. Imagine that onto yourself. Have the same flaps as her." The Overlord flew around me once before going forward.
I hummed and watched Grim's wings flap. How she moves and tilts them to help fly better. I closed my eyes and pictured myself flying exactly how she is. Large dragon wings planted on my back. I pictured being able to fly and catch Lloyd from falling. It made me smile. I took down my ponytail and let the wind filter through my hair. Everything matters in flying. I could fly if I really tried.
I opened my eyes just in time to see the Overlord flying downwards. Grim followed with. I watched her wings as pictured myself doing the same. Grim's feet hit the blackened greyed grass. The Overlord in front of her. " Where are we?" I looked around. " The Temple of Darkness." The Overlord walked around. " Temple of Darkness? I've never heard of it." I was confused.
" You know how Ninjago and the Dark Island are shaped like Yinyang." The Overlord started. I hummed. " And you know there is a circle of the other color in each side. A circle of white in the black part. The good in the bad. Well, the Temple of Light on the Dark Island is like that. And the Temple of Darkness here is the other side. They balance each other." He explained. " Oooh." I smiled a bit and continued to look around.
We came across the front of a temple that was connected to a mountain. Just like the Temple of Light was. The Overlord brushed away vines that had grown over the temple. He frowned a bit. " Sad to see that, while the light was kept beautiful. Darkness was left to rot." He ripped out some weeds. I let Grim disappeared and started to help pick out weeds. He smiled as both of us cleaned up the outside of the temple.
After getting the bigger imperfections out of the way, the Overlord led me inside. I followed the large dragon into the pitch-black temple. " Use your powers. Use anything." He told me. I nodded and hit the ground. A search ring boosted from my hand. I just imagined a Jade Blade to search for because it won't work without searching for something. As the ring travels, torches and fire pit were lit with purple fire. I gasp and look around.
The room was lit up further by crystals. A large dragon statue made out of stone stood in the middle of the temple. Dark liquid flowed from the cracks in the wall and floors, surrounding the statue. The walls had engravings with words I could not read. I could see drawings but didn't know what they mean." What do the walls say?" I ask my Great Grandfather.
" The walls? They hold ancient predictions. Warnings and prophecies. One day, you will be able to read these walls. The words will unlock themselves to your eyes." He sat down, his large dragon tail curling around himself. I felt the walls, " What do you mean, unlock to my eyes?" I traced a letter. " The words will reveal what they mean to you. It doesn't make sense but it will happen. " He shook his body like a dog shaking water off its body. He walked around the temple.
I sighed and turned away from the wall. " Is the Dragon statue supposed to be like you?" I walked over to it. " I believe so. Even though the Temple of Light didn't have a statue, seeing how it was here before the creation of Ninja, I believe it is. Like a tribute to me and my darkness." He circled around the statue. " You could count the mech the First Spinjitzu Master use as a statue at the Temple of Light." I snicker.
" I hated that fucking mech. Lloyd was pretty fucking useless in it though." He laughed. " Overlord!" I growled. " Awww, did the little dragon get angwy when I mention her pitiful boyfriend?" He said in a baby voice. " She gave me a little angwy dragon growl." He laughed. " Cute." He looked around the temple. " You are an ass," I look around as well. " I know."
I bent down and stuck my hand in the liquid that was flowing to the statue. The liquid was cold but not too cold but also too cold. Super cold but also not cold. Comforting but uninviting. Evil but good. " What is this liquid?" I asked. " Watered-down Dark Matter. It's the weakest type of Dark Matter. Seeing if any actually strong Dark Matter was in Ninja, this whole world would be unbalanced in darkness." He laid by the stream.
" So what would happen if a normal human touched it?" I swished my hand around. " You ask too many questions. Anyways. A normal drop can take a man's heart black, but a drop of this watered-down bullshit would probably just make you get angrier a bit easier. It doesn't do shit." He scoffed, licking the liquid. " It doesn't even taste as good." He stuck out his shadowy tongue. I laughed at him, " Oh boy haha."
