*two years later*

|karen| "y'all come on now im not finna be late to this graduation." I fussed holding my two year old granddaughter 'khloe mahrie kelly'.

A lot has happened in the span of two years, kierra got married to jordan.. we were Godly proud.

Deaja turned eighteen a while ago.. of course I cried the day before she did and the day of.. all day that was.

Me and drew had the church rebuilt and no charges were held against the boys for killing donald.

Me and my sisters were still traveling in our ministry with no thoughts of retirement anytime soon.

Now today, my baby dee is graduating as high school valedictorian. It's such a big accomplishment and I couldn't help but smile at her every time i saw her.

All she's been through you would've thought she would've gave out three years ago but like doe said.. she is still here.

Deaja had already left the house, i refused to have her late to her own graduation.. I just knew we could never be on time so I insisted she went by herself.

"If I have to tell y'all one more time to get out of this house I know something." Everyone got ready over here so we could drive a maximum of two cars.

"Girl stop yelling we will be okay." Doe replied coming down the stairs looking at what I had on.

"Karen you've got to be kidding me." She said looking me up and down.

"What?" I asked genuinely confused.

"What? Did you really just ask me what? How about you take a quick look in the mirror then tell me what's wrong." She said finishing coming down the stairs.

I stepped into the bathroom with the full mirror and look. I had some stuff made for today.

All including a t-shirt with pictures of both of us on it, pants that says her name on one leg and valedictorian on one leg along with a hat that had "proud auntie" on the front of it.

I stepped from out of the bathroom and didn't see the problem.

When I stepped out everyone was looking at me like they were deers in headlights.

"Y'all like something you see? Let's go" I said grabbing my purse and phone before heading out.

As we drove to the auditorium I couldn't help but drop a few tears. I thought this would be the last time doing this when jdrew graduated but yet here we are again.

"Karen why are you crying? We haven't even made it to the graduation." Drew asked looking over with a small smile plastered on his face.

"Be-because that's my baby- I cant believe how fast time flew." I choked out looking out the window.

"You so emotional i love you" he said before turning back over pulling into the parking lot.

"I love you too john" I replied turning to get my purse and pom pomps.

"Karen your not bringing those in, seriously" he said bursting my bubble.

"And why not?" I asked looking at him with one eyebrow lifted.

"Ask everyone else, here they come" he replied helping the kids out the backseat.

"Y'all are the pom poms to much?" I asked and they all yelled out yes telling me to put them down.

"Fine- okay let's go so we can find some good seats." I said walking away from the car.

We found our seats and i scanned over the ground looking for dee when i spotted her sitting with her natural curly hair.

"Look there she go right there" I told everyone pointing at her. She looked up at us as if she knew we were looking and waved back with a huge grin on her face.

|deaja| I turned around after speaking to my family and reality hit me. I was really about to enter into a new chapter of my life.

To be proud of myself was a huge understatement. I looked around me to see all the black robes and then down at the red one I had on.

Pulling me back to reality the priest said a prayer and then the ceremony started. I had to give a speech because I was valedictorian.. at first I wasn't up to it but I figured I came this far so why not.

After I gave the speech, the dean came and asked everyone to hold their applause until everyone's name was called.

I stood cheering for everyone I knew even though we were supposed to hold all applause but you know black people.

"Brad jamal Allen" the announcer called and I stood to my feet as fast as I could congratulating my boy.

It'd been a fun few years with him and I only hoped it lasted longer. I knew I was the loudest one when is name was called but I didn't care.

I sat there until the m's were called up. My heart raced as all the last names were called up and when the m's were up my heart stopped.

I went to the side of the stage like we practiced and waited for my name to be called.

"Deaja amir moss" he called and before he could even get my last name out I heard auntie karen screaming to the top of her lungs.

I walked up and grabbed my diploma, taking the picture and before I walked off I blew them all a kiss laughing to myself at what she had on.

I walked back to my seat and waited for the rest of the program to play out.

"May all the graduates please stand?" The man asked from the podium and we all did.. we all knew what was next.

"You may now bring your tassel to the opposite side of your cap... congratulations c/o 2020." He said

I did as told and threw my cap up looking up to the sky.

"I did it ma"
