~~Mara~~
'You nervous'? I ask my dad on Sunday, as I walk into his room and do his tie up for him.
'Very. But, if my favourite girl can get through 3 days at a brand new school, I can get through this' he smiles up at me.
'I'll meet you downstairs. You're gonna be great, daddy' I smile, and walk downstairs in my Sunday best, and grab some coffee of the counter.
'So, how's Colton'? My mom asks, and I sigh.
'He's fine. I haven't spoke to him since he came over for dinner' I reply, attempting to cut the conversation short.
'I think he's nice' she continues.
'I hadn't noticed' I laugh sarcastically.
'Oh come on, give me something' she pleads, sitting opposite me.
'What do you want me to say'? I sigh, resting my head on my arms and facing her.
'Do you like him'? She asks.
'Momma, I don't even know him'.
'That's not what I asked' she smirks.
Just as I open my mouth to respond, my dad and Cameron walk downstairs.
'Thank you' I laugh, and walk over to them both.
'Mom still bothering you about Colton'? Cameron asks as we all walk outside to the car.
'Yes. She is insistent there's something there, when really there isn't' I laugh.
'Maybe there is'? Cameron asks, giving me the side eye.
'Not you, too' I laugh sarcastically and walk off.

As we arrive at the church, we are welcomed with open arms, with people saying how happy they were to meet us, and how they knew the church was in safe hands.
But, I still found myself searching the crowd for his face.
And, when I do finally spot him, I'm surprised to see he is staring at me too.
'Mara! It's so lovely to see you again, darling' Colton's mom smiles, pulling me in for a hug.
'I hope my son has been looking after you' his dad laughs, patting Colton on the back.
'You could say that' I sigh, and although they all hear, my dad quickly changes the subject.
'I am so glad you could make it today. Please, take your seats' he smiles, and we all walk over, and to my complete disgust, for some damned reason, Colton's sitting next to me.
'I asked my parents about the job' he whispers in my ear, and I can't help but feel all of the hairs on the back of my neck go up as goosebumps spread around my body, and almost as if he knew, he laughs and moves slightly further away.
'I really wish you didn't' I reply.
'Come on, it's a job. And it means you get too see me more often' he smirks at me' I don't know what happened back then, but do you not think it's time to move on from that? You can't heal if you're still reliving the thing that broke you' he replies, and I'm completely stunned at his sincerity, that I struggle to even find the words too say.
'Earth to Mara? Are you even listening'?
'Yes. Sorry' I snap out of it, 'What did they say'? I ask.
'They can't pay you a lot. But they actually want you too come back after church today, so they can show you around' He smiles.
