Dad didn't like Peter Hale not one bit. It had nothing to do with Peter really but everything to do with me, his only somewhat recently turned 13 year old only daughter being the soulmate of a 31 year old man. He didn't know much about him aside from the fact Peter had been on his way to being a high powered attorney in what was one of the most respected firms of the Sacramento Valley before the fire. The Hale House fire had left him with third degree burns over 75% of his body and killed everyone else but his oldest niece and nephew through his sister who had both been at the high school basketball game. Now however it had become a question as to if they had been involved in the fire or more so if his niece had considering what Jennifer Green had said when I was recording her.

Walking into the facility that morning was like when I first entered Hogwarts and my name was called to be sorted. Everyone was watching me and whispering as I walked to Peter's new room at the hospital with my dad and Mel. With my hearing having increased I could hear how they were talking about how I was part of the newest soul bond in town. They wondered if there was something going on or if there was something in the air that three soul bonds had been found and formed here in Beacon Hills in the past two years when it was becoming so rare for a single bond to be found and formed.

Entering the room I saw Jackson's father talking with Peter who was facing away from us. "Mr. Whittemore, what are you doing here?" I asked and saw how Peter stiffened before relaxing and slowly turning around giving me a quick look over as if checking to see if I was real and unharmed before looking away.

"Hello Nikki, Chief, Mel. I'm here as Peter's attorney and friend. I'll be helping him get things together once he's finished healing and is released so he'll be able to get his life back."

"Chief Stilinski I've heard good things about you." Peter gave a small smile that didn't seem just quite right, like a mask. "I hope we'll be able to speak privately later on regarding the fire."

"Of course

"Of course." Dad said gruffly and Peter nodded before his blue eyes returned to me.

"Chief would you mind if I talk to you and Mel outside for a moment?" Mr. Whittemore asked.

"What? Why can't we just-"

"Noah, it's just outside the door." Mel said and I flashed her a quick smile as they walked out.

"Hello Nikki. I've rather enjoyed you reading to me the past few months." Peter says walking forward.

"I wasn't sure what you liked."
