[A/N: Massive apologies to anyone that was waiting for an update!! I've not been super into Twilight the same way I was when I started this ^^' but I'm still determined to at least get it somewhere fluffier! Thank you so much to anyone that left votes and comments! :D <3]
I jumped, pulling away from Carlisle in embarrassment, releasing the arm I was cuddling. Oh no. This is bad.
To further my shock, he was wide awake.
As I was about to stammer out an awkward apology, Carlisle cut me off.
"Did you sleep well (y/n)?" Even after having me resting on him – and dear lord, most likely drooling – he still wore the same fond smile as always. "You rolled over in your sleep; I must've gotten in the way."
I hid my face in my hands. What did I do to deserve this kindness?
"I... I actually slept really well. How long have you been awake?"
"Oh, not long. I got enough shut-eye to last a lifetime." He stretched before rising from the bed. "Can I get you anything to eat? We could swing by the diner again if you're up for it."
I simply nodded in response, still bewildered by my own sleeping betrayal.
"Brilliant, I'll leave you to get ready, the bathroom is just out here." He lightly brushed my chin with his fingertip, and turned on his heel, making his way out.
"Oh... Also, I'm glad you slept well, (y/n)." He closed the door behind himself, leaving me alone with my thoughts.
Thoughts of him.

After I'd scrubbed up to the best of my ability, I walked down to the main room, hoping it wouldn't be a full house again.
To my relief, only Esme was around.
When she noticed my entry, she greeted me and immediately offered to make me a coffee.
I declined politely, not wanting to get caffeine jitters before seeing Carlisle, who coincidentally walked in, right as his sister was starting to insist.
"It's alright Esme, I'm taking (y/n) to the diner for some breakfast," he took the mug from her hands, setting it back down on the stone countertop. "I'm sure we'll end up having plenty of coffee there."
"Of course," Esme smiled the same way Edward had; like she knew something I didn't. She turned to me, most likely noting my confused expression. "You guys have fun, ok?"
Are his whole family rays of sunshine?

Carlisle pulled up to the diner, opening my door for me as always, taking my hand like a true gentleman as I stepped out of his Mercedes.
Unexpectedly, he kept a firm hold on my hand, and I immediately flushed red.
"Anything wrong?" His kind voice filled with concern as he peered down at me, slightly loosening his grip.
As if by instinct, I clasped his hand tighter.
Oh god, why did I do that?
"Everything's fine." I said, more so trying to convince myself, rather than him. I didn't let myself say any more than that - I knew I would end up tripping over my words like an idiot.
He seemed satisfied with my answer, giving my hand another squeeze, and leading me into the diner.
When we were seated in our usual booth, I finally broke my awkward silence. I needed to know where he stood on this.
"Why did you do... that?"
"Do what, (y/n)?" He asked innocently, leaning on his hand. As he looked into my eyes intently, I noticed that his eyes seemed to almost sparkle, even in the cloudy morning sunlight.
"Not letting go of my hand." I stated bluntly, knowing that if I even attempted to add any filler words, I would embarrass myself somehow.
"Because," he flashed me an almost mischievous smile, "I find it cute when you blush."
