Laila literally sprinted across town. She had heard of stories where someone's loved ones were in danger and they were somehow able to develop a sort of superhuman ability to get to them... that was how she felt as she ran to her sister. In all honesty, she didn't realise she could run that fast, but she supposed the haunting idea that Audrey could strike her or her sister down and turn them to stone or put them to sleep... And that idea was enough to make anyone run faster.
Quickly turning the corner onto the main street, she almost ran into a stony figure but dodged it at the last second. Her mind was in a panicked haze. For a dreadful second, she noticed how the figure had long hair and was a similar height to Ingrid... but then she got a glimpse of the face and realised that it wasn't Ingrid. To say she was relieved was an understatement.
Despite the relief she was feeling, it quickly turned into panic once again when she still couldn't spot her sister. Her head turned this way and that, right and left and everywhere. Laila had almost given up. But then, coming out from the shadows of a store down the street, a figure stood up. Laila's attention was immediately drawn to it—for a split second she thought it was Audrey, but then she realised... Ingrid!
"Your map is stupid," Ingrid called out to her with a scowl.
Laila breathed out the biggest sigh of relief. She ran forward and wrapped her arms around Ingrid, who froze up in confusion. "Oh, my God. I'm so glad you're alright."
"... Why wouldn't I be?"
And then Laila launched into details on what had been happening with Audrey—how she stole the scepter from the museum and how she's been on this insane power trip ever since.
"Shiiiit," Ingrid said, her eyes wide.
"Yeah, tell me about it," Laila said. Then she frowned. "Wait—what do you mean my map is stupid?"
Ingrid huffed. "Well, this morning I was reading the map and trying to catch a bus that was supposed to give me a tour of the town—see, it says so right here—when all of a sudden I was a couple of towns over and I had to wait for the return bus. And then I read the fine print that the tour bus only leaves once a day... and I had missed it! And then by the time I got back here, everyone's... like this..."
