The events of the night were far from over. Laila's relief was quickly turned into reluctant concern after Mal told them that Audrey was unconscious—and she wasn't waking up. And even though Laila didn't like Audrey all that much—and she definitely didn't like what she had accomplished recently, you know, with all the terrorising she'd done around Auradon—she couldn't help but feel troubled. She might not have liked her, but she didn't want her to die... or, on a lesser extreme, be asleep forever...

The group was all gathered in Audrey's room, some of them standing up and some sitting on chairs... or, in Laila's case, a bean bag. Laila had never properly been in Audrey's room before—unless you counted that one time she conducted a prank and snuck in and put food colouring in her shampoo, but Laila didn't count that—but she could admit that it wasn't that bad. It had a little too much pink for her taste, but overall it was rather pretty. There was a fireplace on one wall and a window on the other, with elegant looking curtains that fell down in the most stylish way imaginable. And then, opposite all of that, was Audrey's bed, and lying in that bed was Audrey herself, still unconscious.

     "She's slipping away," Evie said.

Mal bowed her head in what almost seemed like defeat. She sighed. "There's only one person in the world who might be able to do something about this, and that's Hades."

"Hades? He wouldn't do it." Ben shook his head in disbelief. Laila couldn't blame him—why would Hades help them? It didn't make sense. "And I wouldn't risk it."

"Actually, he might do it for me," Mal said. "He's my father."

The statement seemed to stun practically everyone in the room, including Laila, who was caught off guard by the piece of information—she'd been so focused on Audrey's unconsciousness and hadn't expected that bombshell. Hades... the Hades was Mal's father? And Maleficent was her mom? Wow. Talk about a famous family.
