Chapter 28

"I'm here" Alethea yelled running down the sidewalk "I'm here. What did I miss?" She asks breathing heavily.

She sat down next to Zach and looked towards Daniel and I.

"Did you run all the way here from our house?" Zach asks looking at her with his eyebrows furrowed. The small girl just nodded and stole his water taking a big drink of it before placing it back down in front of him.

"Yeah. I ran out of the house and Corbyn hasn't realized I left yet" her phone started ringing and she pressed the power button to stop her ringtone from going off. "Never mind. He found out"

"This is great. You literally just up and left" I laugh. The waiter came back over to our table and took Alethea's drink order and our lunch orders.

"Waiter dude was making googly eyes at you Ari" the girl points out looking at the guy's back as he walked away. She took a sip of her tea and moved her eyes to look at me.

"He's been doing that since we got here" Zach smirked looking at me as well. I shrink back in my chair and felt Daniel's gaze on me as well.

"Will y'all stop looking at me like that?" I ask laughing nervously. My cheeks burned and I pulled Jonah's hoodie up and hid my face in it.

"He looked at Daniel several times with the same look he gives Ariella so maybe" Zach started trailing off at the end of the sentence.

"No. Nope. He's not my type"

"Then what is your type?" I ask looking over at him. He just shrugged his shoulders and leaned his face against his closed fist with his elbow on the table.

"I need to set you up with someone," Alethea says narrowing her eyes and taking a sip of her sweet tea.

"No need. I got my eyes in someone"

Alethea and I gasp and look at him telling him to spill it. Zach has the same look plastered on his face and is leaning his chin in his closed fist with his elbow on the table.

"Spill it"

Daniel takes a deep breath in and let's put a quiet "I can't" making all of us deflate and slouch in our chairs.

"Boo, you whore" I pout crossing my arms over my chest.

It wasn't long before the waiter comes back with our food and we go straight to eating. We didn't talk the entire time our plates had food on them. Not a single thing was heard and that was perfectly fine because food was in front of our faces.

"So what we're we gonna talk about?" I asked furrowing my eyebrows once I was done eating.

"Jonah's shoe size" Zach answers taking a drink of his water.

"We've talked about that. Let's talk about the person Daniel is hiding from us" I respond directing the attention to Daniel.

"I already said I can't"

"Elaborate" Alethea said leaning against her closed fist.

"I just cant say anything. I said that I wouldn't do I can't say anything. Okay?" He responded looking at the table.

He glanced at Zach quickly and looked at Alethea and me with a look I couldn't quite detect.

"Okay. It's fine"
