After dinner, I helped Kitty with the dishes. Then she told me that I could take Laurie's room upstairs, so I decided to go up and make myself a bit more comfortable.

It was very pink and girly in Laurie's room, but I felt at home. Laurie and I actually used to get along, but I think it's because she slightly pitied me...

Placing my bag on the bed, I looked around at the room. I noticed a lot of disco posters, and fashion shots taken from drugstore magazines.

So, I guess this is my room now. I wonder if I can repaint?

Just then, there was a knock at the bedroom door. I answered, and it turned out to be Kitty.

'I was just wondering if you were okay. You didn't join the others in the basement,' Kitty asked me with concern in her voice.

'I'm fine, Kitty. This is all just so new and bizarre to me, and I need time to adjust,' I looked around the room in disgust, 'so, I'm going to take a few moments, and I'll go join the others.'

Kitty got up and she seemed a lot happier, 'well, dear, if you ever need someone to talk to, you know where I am.'

I sat on the bed for a few more moments before deciding to go to the basement.

I hadn't even gotten down the stairs completely, when I got hugged by Kelso.

'I'm so glad you're back, Rita! I just can't believe it!' Kelso, always the excited one.

'Thanks, Kelso. I'm glad to be back,' I looked to see who else was here. It was Donna, Jackie, Hyde and a foreign teen.

'So, who's this?' I asked, and the foreigner stood up somewhat gracefully.

'My dear, I am Fez. Now, let me become the man of your dreams,' he spoke with a thick accent, and I found him very funny.

'I'm Rita, and I prefer to keep it just me for now,' I sat on the dryer, and looked over at the gang.

'So, who's up for...' Hyde started, but Jackie shushed him.

'Wait, do we even know if she's cool or not? For all we know, she could be a cop.' Jackie muttered.

'But, I'm a cop!' Kelso shouted, and I just laughed.

'If it's what I think it is, I'm okay with it,' I dug into my pockets and found a crumpled half-joint.

'Yeah, Jackie! Rita is cool!' Kelso defended me, and I was just so happy to be back with my best friends.

We all lit up after Hyde rolled another joint, and the circle began.

The gang was bantering in all silliness,  and I could hardly keep up.

'You know what I just thought of? How much I want to give you a makeover, Rita!' Jackie exclaimed.

'Uhhh...no.' Everyone laughed at my comment.

The circle ended not long after, and Kelso, Jackie and Fez decided to go home. I stayed with Donna and Hyde.

'Do you remember when Jackie wasn't around and the world was peaceful?' I jokingly asked.

'She's not too bad after a while,' Donna said, while raising her eyebrows at Hyde.

'Oh don't even get started with that!' Hyde seemed irritated by Donna's comment.

'Oookay, what happened here?' I asked, but neither of them would say.

'Alright, but I'll know eventually,' I decided to call it a night, and I went to take a shower.

Kitty gave me some of Laurie's hygiene products that had been left at home. I had pretty much all I need, but Kitty still said she'd get me some other things tomorrow.

Once inside the bathroom, I locked the door. Instinct, I guess. I just felt a little vulnerable still. I had no idea if my parents would even do anything.

They had to have known that I was gone by now, and I don't think they would ever guess to look here.

I didn't leave a note or anything, and I just took a few hundred dollars. Okay, I guess that is pretty noticeable, but I needed it to get here.

After a relaxing shower, I decided to put on some baggy pyjama bottoms and a Led Zeppelin t-shirt.

I found a few hair elastics on Laurie's vanity table, so I decided to tie my hair up in braids.

A soft knock on my door was heard, and I hesitated to answer it. Hyde's voice on the other side soothed me.

'Hey, can we talk?' Hyde asked, and I allowed him inside the bedroom.

'I know that your parents beat you, and maybe other things,' Hyde sighed and placed his hand on my shoulder, 'just know you're not the only ones who had to ask the Formans for help.'

My eyes widened. I mean, I remember Hyde's mom not being super reliable, but I had no idea he actually lived here.

'They took me me in when my mother completely abandoned me. I'm lucky to have them, because I've really changed,' he got up, and went to the door.

'You can too, Rita. We'll find your father one day, and you'll have a great life. Good night, and sweet dreams,' Hyde left quietly, and I pondered on his words all night as I slept.
