I woke up late the next day, and I was the last one to figure out that Jackie had gone to Chicago to try to live her life on her own.
Hyde and Jackie had dated previously, and they broke up. So, Kelso, who also dated Jackie, decided she was fair game, Therefore, he went for it, and this made Hyde jealous.
So, in the end, Hyde and Kelso made her choose between both of them, and she chose herself.
Except, Hyde was going to propose to her, and Kelso apparently drove her to Chicago.
It was a lot of news to take in one day, but I decided to just try to focus on myself and resolve my own problems.
Not having Eric here was difficult, because he had always been the person I went to with my problems. Even when we were kids...
This brought me to Donna, who gladly invited me inside her home. We went up to her room, and I sat on her bed.
'You missed a lot of stuff. I mean, you left when you were twelve!' Donna said, and she was laughing at how shocked I was about the Jackie story.
'I know, and I was hoping you could fill me in. You know you want to anyways,' I smirked at Donna, and she sighed.
We spent the afternoon discussing and swapping stories. It would seem that her and the gang had gone through a lot of amazing events. I wished I could too.
'Don't worry, Rita,' Donna placed her arm on my shoulder, 'there will be lots of other crazy things happening. Take Jackie leaving for example!'
We spent most of the day together, and when Kelso showed up in the basement, we knew something bad would happen.
'Is Hyde here?' he asked, hesistantly and somewhat afraid.
'No, why?' I asked.
Just then Jackie came in, and she started beating up Kelso. After a bit, she came to sit next to Donna.
'So, Steven isn't here?'
'No, what happened?'
'Oh nothing, just that I quit my job and lost my boyfriend,' Jackie was very upset.
They decided to go to the hub to try and cheer up Jackie, so I tagged along and felt really sad for Jackie.
I also missed Hyde too, and I hoped he would be back soon. It's like we finally see each other for the first time in years, then he just disappears.
Donna ordered some food for us, and I sat with Jackie as she seemed almost indifferent to everything.
This was odd, as I couldn't believe the girl I met the other day could be the same one that is in front of me.
'I just really didn't want things to pan out this way, y'know?' Jackie looked over to me.
'I know, and things usually don't work out the way anyone wants them to.'
Donna came back with our food, and us girls just spent the night together. Jackie was very upset, and Donna and I didn't want her to be alone.
Hyde didn't come back that night, or the next morning. I spent long days with the gang, worrying about him and wondering about how Eric was settling in Africa.
Donna and I often would sit in the basement at the Forman's and just listen to records together.
'Where do you think Hyde went?' I asked Donna.
'Probably somewhere wild. He probably needed to get away to think things through,'
She saw that I was concerned, and she gave me a hug.
'Don't worry, Rita. He'll probably be back by tomorrow!'
But Donna was wrong, Hyde never showed up for another few weeks. By this point, I figured I would just try to live my life in Pointplace.
I found myself a job in a record store named Grooves, and I was hired by this stoner guy named Leo.
Leo was an older man, I think close to Red's age, but he was kind and very forgetful.
He really felt familiar to me, but I couldn't put my finger on it. So, I just worked a few nights at the record store, and Leo would usually reward me with some awesome stuff.
Most of the time, it was pot. Sometimes, we would smoke together, and he would tell me about his life.
Or rather, the things he could string together. He was very forgetful, and very bizarre.
Soon, it had been a month that Hyde was gone, and I was making the best of my time by hanging out with the gang and working at Grooves.
One day, Kitty, Donna and Fez were making an audio tape to send to Eric, and I decided to just watch t.v.
I had the day off, and I had remembered that Jackie wanted to hang out today. Before I could even walk upstairs, I saw Kelso.
'Hey, Rita! I'm trying to hide from Hyde...hahaha, that's funny!' Kelso was seldomly here nowadays.
'Hey, I don't think this is the right place for it...he might walk right in through that door any second,'
Kelso seemed hesitant, and he decided to leave. That's when I was joined by Kitty, Donna and Fez.
While they hit stuff together to try and make Eric guess the sound, I was wondering when Hyde would be back.
'I just know, that I'll never be happy until I see you come home,' Kitty said into the microphone, and that's when Hyde came inside the house...
