At first, I didn't even realize what had just happened. Today had already been a whirlwind of emotions so I had not expected him to ask me that. It finally dawned on me that he had proposed and new tears welled up in my eyes.
"Of course." I nodded before wiping away a tear with the back of my hand. I let out a laugh and chuckled. "You know, you really should stop making me cry so much."
"I can make no guarantees about happy tears."
Without another word I leaned in to kiss him. It was just a short sweet kiss but I poured all my love for him into it. We broke away from each other once we heard an 'eww' coming from Levi.
"I'll talk to you again 10 years from now." Windham chuckled and ruffled his hair.
"So, I guess it's a good thing your parents already told me to call them mom and dad huh?" I asked Windham with a smile.
"Course they did." Windham chuckled. "I'm not even surprised. My mom kept asking about us ever since she met you."
"Are you sure they'll be okay with this though?" I asked him. "We've only known each other for a few months."
"Honestly? I don't care whether other people are okay with this or not. I love you and I love Levi. That's all that matters to me. Is it fast? Sure. Was it unplanned? Yeah. Does it feel like the right move? Definitely. We don't even have to get married any time soon if you don't want to. Some people are engaged for years. There's no rush in anything my love. We'll get married when the time feels right to us. I just want you to be my forever."
"Honestly I'd marry you tomorrow in one of those drive through chapels in Vegas if you wanted. I mean I don't think mom will appreciate it and don't even get me started on the..." I covered Levi's ears. "...shit we'd be getting from Abby, Camilla and Lola."
"We have time." Windham assured me "And yeah, they definitely wouldn't like it if we did that. I wouldn't want that for you though. I want you to have the wedding of your dreams."
"You're the best." I smiled at him. "So, should I go get your parents? I'm sure they'd like to see you."
Windham nodded and I went to the door. Once there I looked back at Levi "Stay with your dad, okay?"
After Levi promised to stay with Windham, I went to get his parents.
"He's awake. He'll be fine." I assured everyone. "Mom, dad, you should go in to see him first. Everyone else can come in after."
Mom and dad immediately joined me "Well then, let's go."
I took them to see Windham, I immediately went back to my original spot beside him.
"Hey mom, dad." Windham chuckled as his mother hugged him. "Sorry for scaring you."
"Oh, it's fine. As long as you're okay everything is fine." She assured him.
"Actually, it's better than fine." Windham smiled at her. "I asked Harmony to be my wife."
"That's amazing." His father smiled and came to hug me. "I told you, you are family now."
"Thanks dad, I appreciate it." I said as I hugged him back.
"In that case you'll need this." His mom said and held out an engagement ring to me. "I figured it would be needed soon so I took it with me when we came here for the trial. It was my mother's engagement ring."
The ring was absolutely beautiful it had a simple and thin golden band. There was one big diamond as the focal point that was not too showy and a few smaller ones around it.
I looked at her. Touched by one of their gestures once again "It's beautiful but I can't accept that."
"Nonsense child. I want you to have it." She insisted.
"But what about Abby, shouldn't it go to her?"
"She'll get my engagement ring. She likes mine better than my mom's. Now go on, see if it fits."
I chuckled as I realized that she would not take no for an answer and tried it on. The ring was a perfect fit and Windham noticed it to.
"Hey, it's a perfect fit. Just like us."
I couldn't help but laugh at his comment "Oh you and your corny jokes."
"We should let others come in. Don't worry, we'll let you tell them yourselves." Dad told us. Him leaving with his wife once they said their goodbyes.
Soon enough Abby, Camilla and Lola walked in. Camilla immediately went to hug Windham, even before Abby could.
"Thank you for keeping her safe." Camilla told him. "I'm glad you're okay."
"Any time." Windham assured my sister before she took a step back.
He placed his hand on mine and suddenly we heard Abby gasp.
Before I knew it, she was hugging me. "I better be a bridesmaid."
Camilla and Lola immediately snapped their attention to me "Bridesmaid?"
I smiled brightly as I showed them the ring that Abby had already seen. "He proposed."
"That's great sis." Camilla came to hug me as well.
Lola soon followed "I'm so happy for you."
"And yeah, all three of you will be bridesmaids. Or well two of you." I chuckled before turning to my sister. "Will you be my maid of honor?"
"Of course." Camilla smiled and hugged me again.
We talked for a few more minutes before the girls left. Camilla took Levi home for me so that I could stay in case Windham needed me. Soon after they left, the guys came in.
They were also very happy to hear the news.
This cycle of people coming in, us telling the news and people leaving again only to send the next group to come in again continued for quite a while.
After the last people had left, I let out a tired sigh.
"Come here beautiful, you need some rest." Windham told me as he scooted over to make room for me.
"No, what if I hurt you?" I asked him.
"Then I'd tell you that you're worth every bit of pain that I go through." He chuckled "Just lie down."
"Fine." I chuckled as well before laying down in his arms. He pulled me close and got comfortable.
The hospital bed was quite small and yet somehow, we managed to make it work. I smiled as one last thought crossed my mind before I fell asleep.
Maybe he was right. Maybe, in every way possible we were a perfect fit.
