2am in the morning, a 17 year-old boy lay on his bed with feet at the head board. He had caramel coloured hair and small greeny-blue eyes, his nose slightly bigger and un-proportional to the rest of his face. ‘’Ah fuck’’ he’d curse every now and then, repeatedly hitting the ‘attack’ button, he had finally cleared the courtyard and figured out how to get over the wall, only to find there were a pack of dogs waiting for him, too distracted he didn’t find the technical gunner in time and before he knew it he was on the floor with blood spluttering out of his guts. ’’Shit’’ he muttered to himself. The screen panned out and a flashing image told him he had failed his mission in saving the president and the country was now in ruins. He tossed the controller across the room and it landed near the wall opposite him where the TV was hung. Even though he had lost over something so stupid he couldn’t wait to boast to Joe about it- tomorrow? – wait- he looked to the time it was 3am, ‘shit!’ he was supposed to sleep at 11; he had planned to only play CoD for half an hour, but had lost track of the time. He realised he should be getting ready right now but he was really tired, so he decided he would sleep for as long as he could; he switched the light off and fell asleep.
‘’Honey…Edward…Eddie…you need to get up now’’ said the soft voice of his mother, though it sounded like the most annoying noise in the world to him and he tried his hardest to ignore it and get it to be quiet, as he focused on trying to get back to sleep. Sure enough the ‘noise’ went away and it was only then that he realised who he was -and the fact that he had to get to the coach or he’d miss his trip to Australia. After a quick shower he jumped out and put on a black t-shirt which had the ‘arctic monkeys’ band name sprawled across the middle and a pair of dark-wash jeans. He shoved his feet into his vans trainers which were getting small for him, grabbed his already-packed suitcase and hurried towards the door. He looked around his room; it was a tip there was pizza boxes in the corner and clothes all over the floor,he realised his mum would end up cleaning it all up, but he had to go if he was going to make it.
After closing his door, he walked a few steps down the hallway and opened another which lead to a small bedroom smothered in pink, he walked over to the Disney princess bed and knelt down to say goodbye to his little sister, a blonde girl with two ponytails on either side of her head, no older than 6 years of age. ‘’Bye Abi.’’ he whispered before leaving. Yesterday, she had begged him to wake her up when he left, but she looked so peaceful right now and he knew she would end up crying besides she needed her sleep and had school in a couple hours. After a 10 minute drive he waved goodbye to his mother and made his way to the coach. ‘Have fun’ she shouted after him. ‘’Will do’.
