As she walked towards the exit of her favourite coffee shop, she glanced down at her cup. “You're beautiful”, was written in place of her name. She glanced back and their eyes met.

She quickly looked away. Furthermore, she did not want him to think of this as a 'moment'.  Satan, knows how much teenagers overanalyzed everything for romantic scenes off from movies.

She exited the coffee shop and went on her way. Three minutes later she found herself back at the coffee shop. Instead of going over towards the counter and ordering coffee like she previously did, she went over to the tables and took a sit.

She busied herself on her phone to pass time.

A chair scrapped the floor. “Hey”, a voice softly said. It appeared that the person had taken a seat opposite her.

She looked up and she was right. The person was indeed at the same table as hers.

Daniel sat opposite her with a shy smile on his face. Had he been a white boy, his cheeks would have been tinted with a rosy colour.

It was cocky of him to assume that she was sitting here, waiting on him. Although it was the truth. She had been waiting for him.

Her phone vibrated besides her. Daniel, probably feeling a little self-conscious under her gaze, looked at it.

“Are you not going to ask me for my order, Dan?” She inquired, looking him in the eye.

Due to her habit of straight out staring people in the eyes, many have told her that she was bold. She did not share their views on that. She did not think it was a bold thing to look another person in the eye, in fact she saw it as an entirely different thing.

Was it not a good way to show that one was listening when conversing? She liked that eyes revealed what a person was hiding. Eyes conveyed the message a person would otherwise not be able to say with their mouth. It was not a bad thing that her peering into people eyes made them nervous. In the case, it was the reaction she hoped she could get.

Daniel rubbed the back of her neck. “ Uhm yeah. Is there anything you would-” -Asi cut her off with the raise of her finger and a light laugh. “Never mind about that now. We need to talk.”

Daniel's heart skipped a beat. No two beats. Asi presence always gave him heebie-jeebies. Oh, that smile. Of course to him, it folded out in slow motion. Had it been possible, his eyes could have turned into hearts.

“Uhm, okay sure”- Daniel placed his hands on the table. Is this it?

Asi cleared her throat. “It is about the coffee you gave me a few minutes ago.” As she said this, a small smile etched itself of Daniel's face.

He had no idea did he. The chances of him understanding what she was about to asked seemed closer to one, out of the rating of ten that is.

“It has got to stop.”

Daniel's face protested before he could even open his mouth. His mouth went up a little, his eyebrows knitted together before they raised up.

Asi went on. “ This has been happening for the past two years now. Trust me it was cute, but it is about time you cut it out now.” She tried to explain as gentle as she could.

Isa scanned Daniel's face. Confusion was written over it. She knew he would want to say something, so she stopped talking to give him time to reply and say whatever he wanted to say.

“Was? Isn't it cute anymore?” Daniel imposed. “ It is, but I would prefer if you stopped”Isa answered back.

A grin painted itself on Daniel's face again. “It is because I think it is true. You are beautiful, Isa”.

“Thank you, but Daniel I do not think you are listening to me.”
*Buzz*
The phone vibrated again. Isa did not even bother checking the message.

“Dan, I must ask this question. Do you have a crush on me?” Isa looked Daniel in the eye with THAT look of hers.

Such as obvious question. Daniel always made sure that her coffee was made correctly. Even if it meant making it himself. He always greeted her with a bright smile or enthusiastic wave, whenever they could pass each other. A crush is an understatement. He adored her and liked everything there was to like about her. From the way she held her head up high when she walked to the way she could blow a breath on her coffee before drinking it.

“I love you.” Daniel blurted out. His eyes went a little wide at his sudden confession. He couldn't believe he'd finally said it. Out loud, to her.

Isa on the other hand was not surprised, in fact one could say she was indifferent.

She tucked a string of her coiled hair behind her ear. This was not going according to plan. Daniel was proving to be more stubborn that she had anticipated.

“That is very kind of you to say Dan. Truly but” -Daniel enveloped Isa's hand in his own.

With love struck eyes, Daniel continued to confess his love for Isa. “I have been meaning to tell you. I really, really like you Isa. I do. You are really beautiful and whenever I see you, I feel my heart fluttering. You have no idea how much brighter my day becomes when I see you. I am really lucky that no one has snatched you, considering how much of an amazing person you are and”

Daniel's confession got cut off when Isa pulled her hands from under Daniel's and instead enveloped his for a few seconds and gave them a light pat.

“Okay, listen her bud. I get it. I am really fluttered, but I do not feel the same. It is never going to happen. You are like a little brother to me” Isa condescendingly replied. She pushed her chair back and stood up. Daniel followed.

“Give me a chance. If it is about age, that does not matter. A 2-year gap is really nothing.”

“It just cannot happen Daniel.” Isa inserted in a firm voice. Her phone vibrated for what seemed to be the hundredth time to Daniel.

“It is not like you have a-”

“Your forsaken Boyfriend is here.” A tall muscular guy with an all black outfit whispered in the crook of Isa's neck. He continued to circle his arms around her, from the back.

Taken aback, Daniel stepped back a little. He had not even noticed him getting in the coffee shop nor him sneaking towards Isa. He was so concentrated on Isa and Isa alone that he totally ignored their surroundings. Literally ignored everything.

Oh, so she did boyfriend. Everything felt like it was spinning. Daniel felt his whole body burning with mortification.

Isa broke the silence, “Do not act like a big baby, Nash.” She moved away from Nash's hold and gestured over to Daniel, This is Dan.”

Nash looked Daniel over with a pointed look. It was almost as if he was sizing him up. Dan felt small, like he was two sizes smaller. Finally, “Oh so you're Daniel “-He nodded his head towards him- “Nice to meet you, kiddo, say hi to your sister, will you?”

Nash went behind Isa again and gently pushed her towards the direction of the door.

“Bye, Dan!” Isa shouted before being led out of the coffee shop by a grumbling Nash.

Daniel stood there. He stared at the two disappearing figures. He felt stupid. To think he'd actually thought that he had a chance with Isa! A twelfth-grader. Her sister's friend, the Oh-so beautiful Isa. As if that wasn't the worst that could happen. Her boyfriend, Nash knew about his little crush towards his girlfriend.

Daniel plumed against the chair. Head in his hands, he released a groan, “Earth, please swallow me now.”
