Chapter 5

Louise POV

I fought against the guy holding me because I couldn't let them hurt Lora. The only thing I was happy about was that these idiots gave me some shorts and a t-shirt to wear. I always thought it funny that there were clothes just randomly placed in the forest for such occasions, but I couldn't laugh now.

Jason quickly threw a blanket over Lora and picked her up. I growled savagely as he did and he frowned at me. I wasn't going to back down now, he had my alpha and friend in his arms.

"Let her go!" I shouted.

"No, she's my mate," he stated.

"I don't care, put her down!"

Suddenly a hand gripped my throat and I was silent. I knew the guy holding me was powerful, he must've been the beta...that means we're equal. I stared at my possibly dead friend in her mate's arms.

I felt tears start rolling down my face. I tried to keep them apart, but it was for Lora's safety...and I guess her mate's too. For years I tried to keep her from finding her mate so we wouldn't settle down anywhere, but I should've known better.

Jason started walking away with Lora in his arms and I growled again. I can't let her out of my sight. He stopped walking at turned to face me.

"Put her in the cells," he ordered.

Lora POV

My eyes slowly fluttered open and I wondered where I was. I remember being in the forest and passing out there, but now I was in a room. I was lying in a large bed that was very soft, there was a large dresser on the other side of the room and a door that led to a bathroom, and there were no other people in the room.

I slowly started to move and I realized I was lying naked under the covers. I blushed. What the hell happened? Did Louise get us out of there?

Louise? I asked.

Lora! Thank God you're alright! Did that bastard hurt you? Where are you? she bombarded.

I'm fine, but I'm in a large room. Where are you?

She sighed angrily. I'm in a cell. Your mate locked me in here.

What?!

Yeah, now get your butt over here and let me out!

I sighed and pushed the covers off me. I quickly rummaged through the closet and grabbed some clothes. A pair of black sweat pants and a grey shirt fit me pretty well, despite being made for a guy. I also found a pair of boxers, and I also found a clean bra and a pair of underwear lying on the edge of the bed.

Bra, definitely, but boxers or panties? Hmm...screw it, I hear their comfy anyway.

I got dressed in the clothes and boxers and then ran out of the room, but I was listening for anyone that could be in the house. When I assumed it safe, I ran out the front door and past two large guards standing by the door. They were surprised when they saw me run by, but they quickly charged after me.

I easily out ran them due to my alpha strength, but I had no clue where the cells were. Suddenly more guards appeared out of nowhere and ran after me as well, so I steered clear of them.

I finally saw the small building that led down to the cells, but there was a guard standing in front of the door, and when he saw me, I knew I wouldn't be getting past him. I saw a small ledge next to the building and that would give me access to the roof, I'll improvise after that.
