Jason POV

"I thought you said she was human?!" I exclaimed running down the flights of stairs.

"She was! We swear! She smelled like one!" Toby said.

"I had no clue she was a rogue," Dan muttered.

Me either. I need to find her! Why would she run away from me? Her own mate! Something's up and I need to find out what.

We jumped into my car and I drove on the road out of town along the forest line. I was so eager to get a look at her in wolf form, but I saw nothing. I pulled off at a park and quickly jumped out.

Marcus! Gather some warriors and a few trackers. My mate ran off and I need to find her. She's in the territory still. I mind-linked to one of my friends.

Yes Alpha, he responded.

I'll find you Lora, and you won't want to run away from me this time. Gosh, that could sound pretty sexual...

_____

Lora POV

I can't believe you shot him! Raine cried. He's our mate!

I'm sorry Raine! It's not like I wanted to! You know why I did though, I panicked!

She sighed but didn't argue. As I ran through the forest, happy to have let my wolf out after not being able to for so long, I couldn't help but feel guilty and upset about what I did to my mate. I don't even know his name! What's wrong with me?! I'm a horrible mate...

As I entered the clearing, I saw Louise's grey wolf. I was a little larger than her since I was an alpha, but I was jealous of her gray coat that shined all the time. She noticed me enter and she stood up from her sitting position and stood in front of me as I caught my breath.

What happened? she asked.

I'm sorry Louise! I didn't want to find him! But I did! And he knows I'm a rogue too! I cried.

She frowned at me. You found your mate?

I nodded.

She sighed. I'm sorry, but we have to leave.

I know, I don't want to put him in danger.

She nodded and we both turned to leave, but there were suddenly several growls around us. We both took fighting position as several wolves emerged from the woods. I recognized a lot of them; they're from our old pack. How did they find us?

One stepped forward, and I knew who it was instantly. It was Matthew, the new beta of the pack. It was him and his brother, the 'alpha', that ruined our lives and made us leave. They wanted us back though, and that wasn't about to happen soon.

He shifted into his human form and I stared at his face, not daring to look down as another wolf gave him a pair of shorts. He smirked at me as he saw I was watching him, thus earning a growl from me.

"Come now Lora, let's just move past this and you and Louise can come home," he said.

His six pack was amazing and toned. His hair buzzed and his eyes laughing at me. I hated him. I hated everything about him.

We don't have a home, I snarled.

He laughed. "You're pack will always be your home. Alpha Dominic is waiting for you."

I snarled again. I hated Dominic even more than his annoying brother. Dominc was forceful, possessive, thinking everything he wanted belonged to him, including me. I hated him even more since he killed my family and took over my pack.

Go away Matthew! Louise and I aren't coming back!

He smirked. "I think you will. If not willingly, then by force."

All the wolves took a step forward, but tons of growls sounded making them stop and lots of other wolves suddenly appeared. They were large, and one really caught my attention. He was black with a white tipped tail, and he was larger than the other wolves. His eyes searched over everyone until they landed on mine.

Mate.

It was him, and he relaxed a bit once he saw me. Suddenly, he leaped over the wolves from my old pack and landed next to me. He crouched down and growled loudly. He was being protective, and I thought it very sweet.

"Excuse us friend," Matthew sneered. "Our business doesn't concern you."

My mate growled even more. The many other wolves that came with him growled as well. Louise and I looked at each other in fear. What is happening?

Get off my land! my mate growled. Leave now or else we attack.

Matthew growled. "Who are you?"

My mate stood up tall. He was bigger than me. Oh shit...he's-

I'm Alpha Jason of the Forest Night pack. Now leave!

Matthew growled before he shifted and ran off, followed by the other wolves. My mate nodded his head toward the direction they ran and a few of his members broke away from us and ran after them. I nodded to Louise and she nodded back. We both slowly started to back up, away from these wolves...and my mate.

Where are you going? My mate asked, turning around to look at me.

I didn't answer him as I slowly lowered my head to show my fear and Louise did the same. We needed to leave. Packs don't like rogues.

My mate's ears perked up and he said, We won't hurt you, I promise!

Then shift, Louise commanded in her beta voice.

Everyone looked at her surprised before looking at their alpha. He quickly nodded and ran behind a tree to shift. He walked out from behind it in nothing but basketball shorts. I stared at his eight pack and his muscles. He. Was. Beyond. Hot.

"I promise, I won't hurt you," he slowly said. He stared directly in my eyes. "I'm Jason."

Jason, how perfect! Raine cheered.

Not now! I snapped.

He took a step closer to me and that's when Louise leaped in front of me and growled at Jason. He jumped back in surprise.

Run! she shouted.

I started to run back but I was quickly blocked by three large wolves, the one's returning from following Matthew. They growled at me and I became afraid. I was trapped. I ran around them suddenly, but one of them leaped at me.

"No!" Jason shouted.

Too late. The wolf and I collided and we both ran through the trees away from everyone. We entered a smaller clearing well away from them all and I shook the two bags and my gun off of me. If this moron wanted to fight an alpha, then he'll get what he wants.

Useless rogue! he snapped.

I didn't say anything, but I growled at him. He charged at me and I sidestepped his attack, but he quickly spun around and clawed my leg. I yelped in pain as it stung but I soon bit his shoulder.

He howled in pain and threw me off of him. He was strong. He shook with such force that I was thrown off of him and I hit a tree. I whimpered. I was out of shape. Like, really out of shape if I can't defeat a warrior wolf.

I couldn't stay in my wolf form any longer as I started slipping from consciousness and I shifted back into a human. I slowly raised my head and saw the wolf slowly advancing toward me, but he stopped as I saw Louise run to me.

I slowly put my head down as I saw her grabbed and hauled away from me. I whimpered even more. She was shouting something, but I couldn't hear it, and I could no longer see her since someone crouch down in front of me and draped a blanket around me.

I remember nothing else before everything became black.
