❝ "i just snogged my best mates sister! he's going to murder me!"
vega grinned and then whispered in his ear before walking away, "i'm not only his sister, but his twin sister. au revoir, remus." ❞

vega black hadn't lived in the greatest home environment. with her abusive parents and psychotic cousins, holidays were horrible. though, the one thing that made the troublemaking worth it, was her younger brother, regulus.
regulus black was vega's pride and joy. always taking a liking into children, vega was like a mum to him. seeing as walburga was practically absent during his young years because he didn't "suit her qualifications" of a child, vega took precious care of the boy, while forcing herself to grow up. however, she wasn't alone. she had her brother, sirius.
sirius black was one hundred percent the disappointment. right when he was just a boy he would question their parents beliefs and why muggleborns were so horrible. of course, the family shunned him for this, apart from his siblings and elder cousin, narcissa. he was a boy with questions and an ambitious mind. sirius, however, learned to grow up with his twin sister as she did. his words were, "it's not fair to let her get all the fun," though there was nothing quite fun about growing up and taking care of the family. he learned how "fun" it was at just age five, when his parents were emotionally and mentally absent. unfortunately, walburga and orion were physically there.
walburga and orion black believed they were royalty and should be treated with such respect, but they were in fact, not royalty. the black family tree consists of inbreeding and the two are husband and wife as well as cousins. though, they find nothing wrong with it. "we have to keep the family pure somehow," they would say.
thankfully, the horrid inbreeding stopped once the twins and regulus were born—they would never marry their cousins—they're all too mad.
as vega grew and discovered smoking at age eight, she declared that she would always help those in need, regardless of their age, status, house, anything. she was a know-it-all, and as one, she had to help in any way possible.
i suppose, that's how their headmaster got into her head. "it was for the greater good," he would say years later when the war was at its peak.
she didn't know this now, but helping those in need just for the greater good, had her lose everything and everyone, including her werewolf.
remus lupin always had an "adult" mind, if you will. getting attacked by a werewolf at age six and losing your childhood and being forced to grow up by the ones you expected to care for you most ruined him. and having a drunken father who blames himself for ruining everything and a sick mother who is one cough away from dying left him crumbling and alone. nobody was there to tell him his mistakes, what to do better, or how to do better.
he was alone on most full moons and afterwards remus had to patch himself up, though he was terrible and was left with scars he couldn't fix.
when he was eleven, he was bombarded with a wizard, albus dumbledore, was his name. a weird, old, bearded man who spoke kindly with a little twinkle in his eyes. the headmaster of hogwarts, he learned, was formally inviting him to the school with a plan for his "disease." remus would attend the school like every wizard his age and on full moons would be taken to a shack off of the school grounds and afterwards would be healed to the best she can by madam pomfrey, the school's matron.
years later he would remember madam pomfrey's kindness and eagerness to help those in need. she reminded him of someone, someone he loved so dearly, but never got the chance to say it. his know-it-all.
