The only living son of Hades, Nico di Angelo stood in front of his late boyfriend's grave. Tears streaming down his face as the last memory he had with his Will was him leaving to Rebirth.**********
"Nico... I'm sorry." Will apologized. A small sad smile making it's way on his ghostly face. " ...I'm choosing rebirth."
Nico's whole world crashed down when he saw heard and felt the news that his first boyfriend died in his quest. It felt so familiar... Like how her sister died and he felt it. He dreamt it.
But he still had hope. He could still visit his Will in Elysium. He could still stay with him. He could still be with him. And maybe, he could wait for him until they can choose rebirth together...
But he forgot the 'maybe'.
He forgot that Will can choose to wait and leave.
And he chose to leave.
He chose to leave him.
Leave him.
Alone.
Once again, Nico's whole world crashed down into the abyss. The only anchor keeping him at bay gone.
"No... No... No!... NO!..." Tears streamed down on his face. All hope breaking in his heart. His dark brown eyes full of only one emotion. "You can't do that! You can't just leave me!"
Despair.
" ...I'm sorry. "
From that day on, Nico loved and resented Will.
The love of his life.
The light to his darkness.
The heavy anchor to his pirate ship.
And the second worse betrayal of his afterlife.
**********
He left him.
'...Just like Bianca.'
"... Nico, dear. It's already late. Let's go home."
The son of Hades didn't need to turn around and confirm who called him. He knew that voice. Persephone. The Wife of his Father. His step-mother. Who took his deceased mother's role after clearing misunderstandings and making a bond with each other.
"Mother. Do I have to suffer like this again and again? Do I have to suffer from this loneliness again? This misery?" Nico asked, tilting his head. Facing the mother in question.
Upon seeing his step-son's expression and tears. The mother stood speechless. The sheer unmasked misery she sees and felt in his beautiful and broken eyes making her do so.
When he asked the question. Persephone froze. Speechless, once again. Because she herself didn't know why the world is so cruel to him. No. She does but she just can't understand why?
Spending time and making new memories with Nico made her know him more. Made her regret her hostility on him before. Made her regret everything. Made her remember and accept the fact that boy wasn't at fault for being his husband's child. He wasn't at fault for being born. He wasn't at fault for being alive. He wasn't at fault for anything she hated him for...
It was just cruel fate.
Hard and cruel fate.
"...No. No, you don't. You deserve none of this, Nico." Persephone embraced her shaking son. Hot tears coming out from her eyes. Her heart breaking at her son's sadness. Her son's life. Her son's fate. "...But Mother will do her best for you, Nico. Everything for you. So please don't do it. For me, little one." With that said. The mother kissed her son's forehead.
