Butterfly's Curse

Like Yugen could feel the longing of Mifuyu's heart for him, he heard him ask: "Do you still wish to stay in the world of humans or do you wish to go back with me to the Butterfly's Realm?"

Hearing the voice of Yugen, Mifuyu fluttered his eyes open. His eyes met a beautiful scenery in front of him and all around him. The red color of the trees was fading away, like the smoke of a dying fire. The place slowly was painting itself over the red color like a canvas of a vivid blue, leaving no trace at all that this place had been covered in a bloody color. The breeze sings through the trees, sending loosened leaves to dance their way down to the ground, falling like summer rain.

Once again the presence of Yugen was enough to stop the distortion of the red butterfly from advancing, and enough to make the distortion fade away. Mifuyu looked over where Yugen is, seeing him standing near a blue tree still holding the red, oil-paper umbrella in his hands. He was looking in Mifuyu's direction with that intense-eyed gaze of his, and just like the first time, his beauty took Mifuyu's breath away.

When Yugen noticed Mifuyu's gaze on him, he dropped the umbrella from his hands, making it fall into a puddle of crystal clear water. When the umbrella hit the puddle, it changed into blue butterflies that soon started to flutter around him. He extended his arms out to the boy in front of him, and Mifuyu couldn't help but run towards his embrace.

The moment he jumped into Yugen's arms, Mifuyu knew he was the one his heart was longing for all this time; the one his soul desired the most. Yugen is the chosen one who can only heal the brokenness within Mifuyu's heart, and win against the fire of love left by Satoru.

Yugen wrapped his arms around Mifuyu's cold body, making him melt in the warmth of his touch. Even when it hasn't been long since the last day they had see each other, for both of them it felt like an eternity, especially for Mifuyu.

Mifuyu looked at Yugen, seeing that he was staring at him with that beautiful red eye of his. He instantly felt drawn to him and enchanted by the spark of his eye like he was under a spell.

"I remember now," Mifuyu said, unable to look away from Yugen's face. "You been by my side since I was born, protecting me from the red butterfly."

By the mention of the red butterfly, Yugen expression turned sad. "And I still failed to protect you. Most of the times I let the red butterfly come so close to you. I did nothing to save you from staring into her eyes. I even left you to die that day..." He confessed with guilt and sadness in every word. "I have been helping the red butterfly all this time, for her to become human. Do you not hate me for that?"

"No," Mifuyu quickly answered. "It's not your fault, Yugen. You're bounded by the wish you promised to the red butterfly, so you don't need to blame yourself or even feel guilty for the actions you were forced to make."

Yugen was expecting for Mifuyu to at least get angry or yell at him, since he had failed to keep his promise to Hifumi. But Mifuyu couldn't bring himself to be angry or to be even hate him. Even when he was aware that every word spoke by the red butterfly was true, he understood the pain Yugen went through all these years.

Mifuyu reached out to Yugen's face, removing the hair that was covering the right side of his face, showing his eye that he has closed. He run one of his fingers down his eyelid, knowing that Yugen had sacrificed his right eye for him, and he couldn't stop the wistful feeling in his heart.

Without thinking much and knowing all the pain Yugen had to go through because of him, like being under a magic spell by the burning spark of Yugen's eye, Mifuyu kissed the corner of his lips. His lips lingered loneliness because of the fragile fate between them, blinding him with the sweet scent of his lips. Feeling his lips capture his, Mifuyu pledged to carve this love into his heart. In Yugen's kiss, he could feel a promise of eternal love and one bade farewell.
