"If you want me to let go of the kid, then what will you offer me in return?"
"Offer in return?" Mifuyu repeated, thinking of what he could offer to the red butterfly for her to let go of Megumi.
"Don't think I will let go of the kid without receiving anything in return, if you want me to give the kid back, then give me one of your eyes," the red butterfly suggested, caressing Mifuyu's face with the tip of one of her fingers. "If you give me your left eye, then I'll give you the kid back. What do you say?" She asked, as she stopped her finger close to the young boy's left eye.
"Are you really going to keep your word?" Mifuyu doubted it. "If I give you my left eye, are you really going to let him go?"
She smiled, trying to keep her amusement to herself. "Why would I lie to you? You don't trust me?"
Mifuyu quickly nodded at her words, making her burst into a evil laugh, "Don't you remember that I kept my word before?" She reminded him. "Even when Hifumi helped you escape from my distortion, I didn't steal your voice and I kept my word."
Hearing the red butterfly talk about the day she trapped him inside her distortion, it made Mifuyu remember that indeed she kept her word. Even when this woman has made him feel scared from the first time he saw her, she never had lied to him. She was even the one who told him the truth about Yugen, she was the one to let him know that he had been consuming human souls together with the blue butterfly in order to keep him alive, so he thought for a moment that he could trust her.
Despite hearing the voices of Satoru and Hifumi telling him not to trust her, Mifuyu still decided to ignore them and trust her anyway, because there was nothing else he could offer the red butterfly for her to let go of Megumi.
If the sacrifice of my left eye is all I need to save that kid, then so be it.
The voice of Hifumi still kept resounding inside Mifuyu's head, but this time worry was present in his voice after hearing the decision his grandson had made. He told him over and over again not to trust the red butterfly in hopes he could convince him, since he was aware that no matter what the red butterfly wasn't going to give her son back.
"She has searched for her son for hundreds of years, and now that she had finally found him, she's not going to let him go that easily," Hifumi tried to warn Mifuyu.
However, Mifuyu did not have any intention to listen to his grandpa's words, so he just remained in silence.
"Have you already forgotten what Yugen told you before?" Hifumi asked waiting for a response, but as the seconds passed, he still did not receive an answer from his grandson.
No matter what his grandpa would say to him, Mifuyu's decision will not change, so he decided to ignore every word Hifumi spoke. He knows that his grandpa was only worried about him, worried that the red butterfly could be lying. But there was no time to lose, they were running out of time. The life of Satoru is fading away with every second that passed. If they don't do something, he's going to die and probably become one of those shadows.
Without giving it much thought, Mifuyu said: "If my eye is worth trading for the life of a kid, then you can have it."
When the red butterfly heard the boy's words, she smiled once again smiling ear to ear. "Then, we have a deal," she said as her smile became a evil grin full of malice.
When Satoru heard this, he stepped forward trying to get close to them. However, when he touched the red butterfly, his hand went thru her like she was some kind of ghost. Satoru wanted to stop the red butterfly from stealing Mifuyu's eye, but sadly there was nothing he could do against her.
