Chapter 24: Not A Trust Addict

Sam thought he was going to be driven mad by the muffled screaming from the basement. It hadn't been long before Bobby had strapped her head to the slab so she wouldn't hurt herself. Dean hated seeing his brother flinch every time they heard a muffled scream of panic or pain through the floorboards but there wasn't anything he could do.

"Was it this bad when I was...?" He asked Dean as they were watching football on Bobby's TV while he slept. Dean hesitated. They couldn't really hear anything though if they focused her screams were still there which meant that she was down there, where she was supposed to be.

"Yes." Dean finally answered. A long silence stretched between the two for the rest of the game. Sam spent the time controlling his flinching though he couldn't help the way his jaw clenched every time he heard her screams. Dean had flipped to an episode of Dr. Sexy MD when the screams stopped. Sam waited for them to start again but after ten minutes he looked at Dean with a bit of worry in his eyes.

"I'm going to check on her." Sam said. Dean eyes flicked to Sam before going back to the screen sharply. Sam knew Dean wasn't really watching the show now. He hated to ruin one of his brother's favorite past times, or ways to get away from what they did the rest of their time, but he needed to go make sure Tyler wasn't dead.

"Go. You know if she gives you trouble or you need anything I'll be down there in a second when you yell." Dean said and Sam nodded walking towards the basement door. "And if you're not back in five minutes I'm coming down there!" Dean yelled after him. Sam just scoffed loud enough for Dean to hear him. Sam walked down the stairs slowly waiting to hear anything. But silence greeted him. He kept going towards the door cautiously and was finally greeted with the sound of light panting. Sam almost grinned, the sound of her breathing meant she was alive. Maybe not ok but alive and for now that was ok with Sam. He slid the piece of metal across the door so he could at least look inside. Tyler was drenched in sweat and Sam could see her pupils were pin pricks in her eyes, all he could see was her bright blue eyes and it was a little disturbing. She was pulling against the restraints as she struggled to breath but she was looking right at Sam.

"You're almost there Ty." Sam said through the small window. He had no idea if any of what he just said she had managed to process but she seemed calm so he stayed until Dean was calling him.

"Sam! Sammy? It's been five minutes! Don't make me come down there!" Dean was yelling down the stairs.

"I'm coming Dean!" Sam yelled back before turning one last look at Tyler. "I promise you won't be there much longer Ty. You just have to hold on a little bit longer." He closed the little window, took a breath and headed back up the stairs. When Sam closed the door and turned around Dean was there waiting, arms crossed and a not happy expression on his face. Not that Dean ever looked happy, but Sam could usually tell when his brother was just normally unhappy or actually unhappy about something specific. It was the latter in this case, which didn't bode well for Sam.

"I told you not to be down there long." Dean growled. Sam rolled his eyes and walked to the kitchen.

"I was fine Dean."

"Yeah and she didn't ask you to let her go?" Dean asked his brother following him to the fridge where Sam pulled out two beers, handing one to Dean.

"She's gagged Dean! There's nothing she could have said if she wanted to." Sam bit back. Dean put his hands up in the air trying to calm Sam down.

"Look I know it's hard to see but she's got to get it all out of her system. And it's not out is it Sammy?" Dean asked his brother as  he leaned against the table and Sam leaned against Bobby's counter, having already shut the fridge door quietly as to not wake Bobby up. Sam sighed but answered his brother.
