Milo's POV
I wake up to Aunt Ali saying that dinner is ready and to wake up Sloane. I gently shake Sloane awake from her position snuggled into my side. She looks up at me, bleary eyed and confused. "C'mon, it's dinner time. Your mom made spaghetti." She sits up, more alert after hearing about the spaghetti. I stand up, closely followed by Sloane.

On the way downstairs, I see Charlie, Aunt Ash, and Aunt Ali sitting at the kitchen table with plates of spaghetti in front of them. Sitting in the middle of the table is a baguette-shaped tin-foil covered object. "What's with the tin foil baguette looking thing?" I ask no one in particular. "It's garlic bread," Aunt Ash says, "I made it myself." Me, being the sarcastic clown I am, respond, "Would you like a pat on the back for your hard work, Aunt Ash?" With a snort, she responds with a "Yes," so I walk over behind her and pat her on the back making the entire room bust out laughing.

Eventually, we stop laughing and start with dinner. I start devouring the spaghetti Aunt Ali made because it's absolutely amazing. "This is amazing, Aunt Ali," I say with a smile. She smiles back at me with a nod. "May I have some garlic bread?" I ask Charlie. She responds with a "Yeah," and hands me a piece. I take a bite and I'm in absolute heaven. "Holy sh- shoot! Thats good!" Aunt Ali sends me a small glare for my mistake while Aunt Ash sends me a shit-eating grin.

I finish the plate of spaghetti along with a couple more pieces of garlic bread. When we're all done with dinner, I clear my plate and put it in the dishwasher. At some point, I notice my mouth is getting really itchy, my tongue feels heavy, and I can't swallow without having to clear my throat constantly. I look at Aunt Ash and ask "Does your mouth itch too?" Everyone turns to look at me as if I'm crazy. She slowly responds, "What do you mean your mouth itches?" Well now I'm confused. "Well my throat is really itchy and my tongue feels heavy and itches and I can't swallow normally. I have to keep clearing my throat to be able to swallow."

They all look concerned and confused before Charlie seems to have an eureka moment, turns to me and asks "Are you having difficulty breathing?" I respond with a "Sorta, my chest just feels tight like I'm wearing a weight vest too tight." Charlie turns to Aunt Ali and calmly states, "It's an allergic reaction. Call an ambulance and say that someone is going into anaphylactic shock and we don't have an EpiPen and need immediate assistance."

Suddenly, all hell breaks loose. Aunt Ali quickly calls 911, Aunt Ash is calling mom and mama to tell them what's going on because they're on a trip to celebrate their anniversary, Charlie is trying to keep everyone calm, and Sloane whispers in my ear "Are you wearing your binder, Milo?" I respond with a subtle shake of my head. Breathing starts to get more difficult and I end up panting for air. Sloane gets my arms above my head to try and open my airways. I faintly hear Aunt Ali saying the paramedics are on their way. Everything gets blurry and fades to black; in the background, I can faintly hear Sloane urging me to stay awake. Slowly, I fade out of consciousness.

Ash's POV
I see Elise's eyes close. My worry instantly triples. "ELISE! COME ON! YOU GOTTA WAKE UP!" Ali screams.

"Hey Pinoe," I nervously chuckle as she picks up the line. "So funny story, your child is in anaphylactic shock-" I get cut off. "SAY WHAT!? WHICH CHILD!?" Megan yells through the phone making me hold the phone away from my ear. "It's Elise. She was talking about her mouth itching and then she mentioned it was difficult to breathe. Charlie had an 'ah-ha' moment and figured out it was an allergic reaction. Ali called an ambulance, they should be on their way."

"Oh my god! Sue come here! Somethings wrong with Elise! Ash how is she?!" I hear from the other end of the line followed quickly by rustling and a loud thud. "Hey Ash, what's going on?" Sue questions with a worried tone. "So Elise had a severe allergic reaction and she's now unconscious-" I say only to get interrupted by Megan yelling into the receiver, "SHE'S WHAT!?"

Sue begins trying to calm her down while I look up to check on Elise. I see her face swollen to the point that, if she were conscious, I doubt she would be able to see or breathe. OH SHIT! Is she breathing?? "Sloane!? Is she breathing?!" I rush out, forgetting that her moms are on the phone, able to hear everything happening on this end. Hearing a "WHAT!?" from the generally calm and collected Sue Bird made me wince. "Yeah, she's breathing on her own, barely but yes," Sloane replies making release a breathe I didn't know I was holding.

"Did you hear that Sue and P? Elise is breathing on her own," I speak into the phone but don't have time to hear an answer because suddenly, I hear sirens. Looking up, I see flashing lights shining through the windows in the front of the house. "I gotta go Sue and P. The ambulance is here. I'll keep you updated," I say into the phone, receiving a goodbye from them both in return, before hanging up the phone.

A/N: yes i'm leaving you on a cliffhanger bc writers block- i'm gonna try to update this as often as possible but if life gets in the way, it happens- and before you ask, yes i do have food allergies, many of them- also yes i use horrible grammar when not writing lmao
