Megan's POV
I rush to the car, quickly pulling out of of the driveway heading towards the high school. My mind can't help but be stuck on Tobin's use of they/them when talking about Elise. I didn't know they were using different pronouns.

I know it can definitely be scary coming out but I hope my kids would feel safe enough to come out to Sue and me. And they just might need time; which is completely understandable.

Eventually, I arrive at the school. Walking into the front office, I am greeted by Tobin, "Hey, P."

"Hey, Tobs. How're they doing?" I inquire as she leads me through the halls of the school to where, I assume, Elise is.

"They've been better. I think Sloane could probably tell you more but from what I heard, they told Beth about how they almost died last night and I think it kinda hit them that they almost died and they kinda broke down. That's when Sloane got me from my classroom," she replies as we walk into a classroom where I see Christen holding Elise in her arms.

Carefully walking up to them, I gently place my hand on Elise's back to alert them that I'm there. They slowly turn around and wrap their arms around my waist, burying their head into my neck. "Hey lovebug," I start as I give Tobs and Chris a nod in thanks.

"Hey mama," is the whispered response. "Can we go home and cuddle?"

"Of course love," I start, placing a kiss on their head, "I'll carry your bags if you can lead me out of here." They nod in response.

After a quiet drive home, we change into comfy clothes before settling in mine and Sue's bed. I lie down on my back while Elise lays their head on my chest, wrapping their arms around me.

"Hey mama," I faintly hear.

"Yeah?"

"I'm trans," they faintly mumble, just loud enough for me to hear them.

I look down at them, "I'm extremely proud of you. I know coming out can be nerve wracking and I'm glad you felt comfortable enough to share this with me," I start as I wrap my arms around them. "May I ask you a couple questions?" They nod with a hum of approval. "Well first off, what are your pronouns, kiddo?" I start.

A couple moments pass before I hear, "He/him."

"That's good to know. Now my second question is are you going by a different name and if so what is said name?"

"Milo. Milo Axel Rapinoe-Bird," is his response as he snuggles farther into my chest.

"That's an amazing name baby," I say with a grin. "Who else knows?"

A few seconds later he responds, "Charlie, Sloane, Aunt Toby, Aunt Chris, and Ms. Lang."

"Do you mind if I tell mom or do you wanna tell her yourself, love?" I gently ask.

"You can tell her, mama," Milo responds.

"It would be my honor," I reply in a silly accent resulting in a fit of giggles from both of us.

A Few Hours Later
Milo and Charlie are both in bed, hopefully asleep. We ate pizza for dinner while we watched a movie. Now as Sue and I lie in bed cuddled up I think about mine and Milo's conversation.

"Our youngest child and I had an insightful conversation earlier today," I start, not wanting to deadname him.

"Oh yeah?" Sue replies.

"Yeah. We have a son," I casually say.

"We what!?" she exclaims looking up at me.

"We have a son."

"Please elaborate, babe."

"Our youngest is trans. He told me this afternoon after I picked him up from school early," I start, "and yes, before you ask, he said I could tell you."

"Oh. Has he picked out a name for himself?"

"Milo Axel Rapinoe-Bird," I proudly state, a large grin on my face.
