Emily had arrived a half hour after Lilith and Lane made their way into the house to wait for her and their dates which were picking them up early so they could make the most of Lane's time with them and get to the dance once the doors opened. "Oh sweetheart look at you." Emily smiles looking at the oldest of her granddaughters. "You look so much like your mother except the eyes, those are just like your father's." Her eyes tear up a bit before widening in surprise. "My goodness are those his diamond cufflinks in your ears?"

"You know mom Rory and I have the same eyes." Aunt Lore says from the couch. "Rory, are you done getting dressed yet? Your grandma's here. Wait a minute, John, as in my brother Johnathon Charles Gilmore had diamond cufflinks?"

"Yes, the two of you do have the same eyes and of course. If I remember correctly Annabeth had them made for his first father's day. There was even some significance to the gold that was used if I remember correctly." Emily says.

"I thought I had another half hour!" Rory's voice calls from her room.

"Mom had it made from her dad's pocket watch after it was ruined in the fire, it was passed down to the oldest son up until it came to mom since she had been the oldest of 3 girls. I found this amazing jeweler that managed to turn them into earrings that way I could use them and I'd have a piece of them with me."

"Well that definitely sounds like something Anna would do-, wait what do you mean the two of us?"

"No offense Lorelai but I kind of agree with your mom on this." Lane says.

"Wha-?"

"Don't get me wrong you and Rory have amazing eyes, seriously it's like ultra-blue but when the sun hits they turn steel grey, mine are just you know common brown so I'm totally jealous about you guys on that. But Lily's eyes are so big and have this dark blue ring at the edge then the same bright blue you guys have but with flecks of silver in the middle. It's seriously cool and totally hypnotic."

"Lane your eyes are awesome! Haven't you ever noticed they change color? Most of the time they're this rich cocoa brown but whenever you get mad or super protective they turn this deep dark brown but when you're really happy or excited about something they lighten up to almost chestnut."

"Really?"

"Yeah."

"Oh, well I suddenly feel very happy with my eyes." Lane smiles and Lilith just rolls her eyes before smiling back at her.

"My eyes are hypnotic too." Lorelai mumbles to herself after thinking over Lane's words having completely missed the rest of the conversation.

"Did you say something Lorelai?" Emily asks.

"No mother."

"Come on Grandma, let's take our pictures. Dean and Henry should be here soon."

"But Rory isn't ready. I thought you girls were all going together?"

"Nope, Rory said she told her date to pick her up at 8."

"I thought the dance started at 7." Emily says.

"It does."

"I don't understand."

"That's what we said." Lane mumbles just as the doorbell rings. "That can't be them all ready, can it?"

"It's open!" Lorelai calls out.

"No way it isn't even half pass 6 yet. Besides I told both Dean and Henry if they showed up before then they'd end up with 6 inch heels a place 6 inch heels don't belong." Lilith whispers the last part lowly so as not to be overheard by Emily. "Oh, hi Sookie!"
