February 2001"What do you think?" Lilith says setting out an outfit on the bed.
"I can't believe that come Monday you and Dean will have been together for 6 months already. Lily that's half a year!" Lane says excitedly before she looks between the options she set out.
"I know. I can't believe how fast it passed and now it's gonna be our anniversary and I'm totally freaking out Lane! I mean this is a big deal."
"A really big deal."
"Huge!"
"Definitely. Did he say where he was taking you?"
"Andeloro's."
"Ooh, they're supposed to be really good. I think that's the only place my mom actually eats from in town."
"She eats when she comes here."
"Yea but you're not a restaurant and you cater to her insanity even if making the usual blandness of it all actually taste like real food, so either way you don't really count."
"Ok and thanks I think?" Lily says with a shake of her head. "She also eats at Luke's." Lane's head turns to her so quickly she thinks it might snap.
"What? Since when? Tell me damnit!"
"At least once a week that I've seen since starting Chilton. And I'm pretty sure I saw her there during summers whenever your dad is gone anyways. And I know she would go there for lunch with my mom and dad sometimes when we were in town and the two of us were hanging out."
"Why did you never tell me this? I mean I could "
"I figured you knew! I mean come on Lane you didn't really think you're mom had no clue you ate out after there were whole days of you not being home and not being hungry once you came through the front door, did you? Your mom knows you eat the bad American food she just doesn't say anything because she does it to every now and then. I think she's just trying to force you to moderate it so that you don't end up with health problems. Plus no offense but your dad is a serious health nut."
"He is not."
"Remember summer two years ago." Lilith sing-songs. "Not a bad thing or anything but my dad was a complete fitness junkie."
"Yea but he used to prosecute criminals and I mean who wants some scrawny little lawyer going against some big buff New York mobster?" Lilith rolls her eyes at Lane's rebuttal.
"Anyways! My dad joined yours for his morning workout and by the time they came back my dad was bent over drenched in sweat heaving while yours was trying to figure out what was wrong with him and barely broke a sweat."
"That was pretty awesome especially since your dad kind of looked like Superman."
"Ok can we not go back to the days you were crushing on my dad."
"Sorry."
"It's ok." Lilith says looking away from her.
"I really like the white sweater and that white pencil skirt. I think you should wear that."
"All white in February?"
"It's cute! Besides it's supposed to be somewhere between like 20 or 30 degrees. You need something cute, fancy yet not too fancy, but that will still keep you warm. So I again I say the white sweater, white white pencil skirt, black boots, and the black trench coat you wore to the dance." Lily arranges it on the bed.
"It is really cute. You sure?"
"Definitely. When Dean sees you he won't be able to form a proper sentence for the rest of the night and once you get back you're going to call me so I can tell you I told you so before letting me know all about your date. Just make sure you call after 9 or I'll be on the phone with Henry."
