"Oh my god, it's Lexine Whilow...
That's Lexine Whilow? She's here? Who's the man she's with? I told you she'll be here..." that's what I'm hearing from all the people who are there as we descended down the stairs. I smile casually as I always do when I go to parties but right now my emotions are all mixed. From nervousness, to irritation, and kind of gleeful from all the surprise faces of the crowd. From the corner of my eye, I see Sapphire staring seethingly at us with Rebecca on her back, shock written on her snakey face. I also see my family not far away and my sister and bestfriend have a wicked smile on their faces.

"Vincenzo!" we turned to the man who called him and it was Everette Greer, he walked to us, his eyes darted on my hand clinging on his arm. "Vincenzo I am glad you came!"

"It would be rude of me if I did not accept your invitation, we were business partners in the past after all." he smoothly said. "May I introduce toy you my future wife, Lexine.'' There was a hint of surprise on his face but he suddenly masked it with his fake smile.

"Oh I know her, it's nice to see you again. You've been gone for so long Lexine, so this is what you've been doing eh. You cheeky girl!" I feel Vincenzo stiffen beside me and I squeeze his arm to calm him.

"Lexine, how nice of you to come." Sapphire said as she walked to us looking regal on her dress. "As I recall, I didn't invite you, I mean it's kind of awkward to attend your ex-fiance's engagement party right? After your wedding is cancelled because you ran off."

"That's all in the past now since Matthew has moved on, quite easily too. Congratulations by the way... I'm sure you know Vincenzo since he'd work with your father before. Honey, Sapphire you remember her yeah?"

"No I don't." agad niyang sagot at nawala ang ngiti sa mukha ni Sapphire.

"Vincenzo naman... Nagkakilala na tayo, nag dinner pa nga tayo nila daddy. Well, matagal na rin yon kaya siguro hindi mo na matandaan. So, did you brought Lexine as your date?" pilit nitong sabi.

"She's my fiance Miss Greer, of course I would take her." she suddenly laughs and then stops.

"Fiancee? Is this a joke? Surely, you wouldn't get involved with a woman like her. Hindi ba niya sinabi sayo na tumakbo siya palayo sa sarili niyang kasal?"

gulat naman ang ama nito sa inasta ng anak at mahigpit itong hinawakan sa braso.

"I know everything and what her ex did to her. And Everette tell your daughter not to insult my woman, it's not really good when I'm pissed off."

"Sorry about that, Sapphire is just nervous. Planning her wedding and all. We'll leave you alone now." pagkasabi non, lumakad na sila palayo habang hila ang anak niya na matalim na nakatingin sakin.
