When Remus was eight years old, he had heard his mum and dad arguing in the kitchen late one night. He had woken up sweating from a nightmare. Well, he had thought, is it still a nightmare if it really had happened, or a re-lived memory? The Full was only days away then, and he dreamt of dull brown frenzied eyes and big yellow teeth and scary snarls and pain, oh God the pain, Mum, Mum! He needed his Mum-
He had woken drenched in sweat and parched, so he paddled out of his room and made his way to the kitchen when he heard muffled voices behind the swinging kitchen door.
"Don'chu say that, Lyall! Don'chu ever bloody say that!" His mother said to his father. He had never heard his mother sound so angry, had never heard her say "bloody".
As quietly as he could, he had walked to the door and leaned his ear to the wood.
He heard his father sigh. "Hope, I'm only saying the inevitable. Our boy...he will never have a normal life." Remus' stomach fell. "He may not be accepted to Hogwarts-"
"Then he'll go to the secondary school I went to! Or I'll keep homeschoolin' him!"
"And how will we explain to the Muggle teachers about why our son is sick every month? Or why he has scars coating his arms and legs?" He sighed again. "Hope, Remus will not have a normal life. He will not have a normal schooling, he will not get married or have children-"
"Yes, he will!"
"And you have to stop filling his head with all those unattainable dreams and promises, alright? You have to stop telling him those things about magic and friends and life. "
His eyes lined with tears as he heard his mother let out a sob.
His parents kept talking, but he slowly moved back to his room. He forget his thirst as he pulled his covers over his head and cried.

The first time Lyra-Jade Black had kissed Remus Lupin was on a cool Spring day during their third year.
The two had sat together under the largest tree on the grounds, with their backs against the bark, side by side, feet sprawled out in front of them, both with books in their hands. But, Remus couldn't seem to focus on the words before him. Lyra-Jade was pressed firmly against him, and one of her legs was crossed over his.
He was a growing boy. He had always found his friend pretty and wonderful and amazing, but that year, he felt different kind of feelings towards her. He noticed things he hadn't noticed before.
Like, how, in the sunlight, her raven hair looked almost blue. And how, without a doubt, she had the largest eyes he had ever seen. They were so large, so big and bright and beautiful, that he kept finding himself staring into them. She didn't seem to mind. Her cheek bones, very much like Sirius', protruded from her face sharply, in a very aristocrat manner. She looked like a queen. And a curve had begun to form in-between her small waist and her hips. He noticed how her lips had grown fuller over the year, somehow.
Her lips. Yes, her lips were very pretty. Perhaps the prettiest part of her face. No, that was probably her eyes. Yes, her eyes were-
"Moony?"
She looked at him with an odd expression - confusion mixed with amusement. He had flushed, immediately diverting his eyes to his lap. "Sorry." He muttered.
"Why were you looking at me?"
"Oh, I, um, I dunno."
"Moony?"
He looked back up to meet her gaze, and when he did, he found her face only inches from her own, her big, beautiful eyes barring into his. She looked from his eyes to the scar on his nose to his lips, the back up again.
