The tapping of my feet was getting the best of me. I'd told myself that it wasn't such a big deal of them being so concern with my well-being , yet another part of me begged for them to treat me as if I'm not pregnant.
I slide my chair back. Their heads both shoot up with them stopping from their writing. " You guys." I breath out standing up from my seat. " Can you both please stop. I'm just another regular human begin like you both are."
Brea stands up as well. " Chi we are concern."
" I can see that." I walk over to the book shelf placing the two books back in its rightful placement. " Do you really think you should be here ? During this time ?" Brea comes closer to me taking a look around at our surroundings. " Listen you know with everything in my heart that I want the best for you. I'm just saying your at the end of your third trimester, you could drop at any moment. Please consider the idea of going to online schooling before your due date."
I force a chuckle out knowing that's not the reaction I wanted to give her. I turn to her, wiping my hands on the back of my pants. It's been quite some time since they've whipped down this section. " I appreciate you for being so kind and having a generous heart, I do."
" But.." she huffs rolling her eyes.
" But this pregnancy will not stop me from being physically here in college. Beside all that online learning is half bull shit. I want the real thing."
" What if your water breaks during class, or after class or even simply here at the library?" She gestures around us. " Then I'll call my doctor to inform her afterwards I'll be on my married way. It's not like I'm the first college girl that's having or had a baby." My words weren't helping her at all.
" Give it some thought."
" I will." We head back over towards the table where Zack lifts his head back up, his eyes immediately going to my nine month belly. I felt self conscious in that moment.
" U-uh well I should get going." I speak quickly gathering up my belongings and halting them onto my shoulders. Zack stands in an hurry. " You need help ? I'll be glad to help." I smile at him, I smile at them both.
" No it's ok I'm perfectly fine. Thanks anyways."
" Sure." He slowly sits back down with a look of defeat.
" Well Chi we'll see you tomorrow. Will you be able to attend the study session?" I shake my head " I have a doctors appointment, actually I have two this week so don't expect me tomorrow or Thursday." They nod their heads.
I wave to them. " Bye I'll see you guys whenever I do." I turn around hearing them say bye and to safely make it back home.
Making it to my car was a bit rushed since I so badly wanted to get out of the harsh hotness of May's sun. Quickly cutting the air on my phone rings with my mother calling. I accept the call.
Once the FaceTime call connects we both smile widely at one another, my jaws had began to hurt and I started laughing. " Always have been funny. It's good to see that pregnancy hasn't taken that all away." I sigh. " Amen to that. What you doing ?"
" Getting my grandchild's room together." I shake my head starting my car. " Mom your a mess. How long will that take ? I'm trying to get some ice cream it's hot ass hell out here." My mother stops fixing some curtains and stares at the camera. " Just because you becoming a mother yourself doesn't mean there still ain't rules."
" Mhum." I back out Baylor University's library parking lot heading to the nearest ice cream shop that I could find.
" How many weeks left again?"
