Chi Brooklyn Monroe

My hand goes over my mouth in disbelief at who stood at the door. He firstly passes Nialey flowers and then myself before bringing me into a heartfelt hug. I crossed my arms over his torso tightly almost suffocating him, I knew he didn't mind at all.
" Where have you been ?" I question him letting go, even though I had a half of mind to keep holding onto him. " No the real question is where have you been ? The last time we talked we were at the house welcoming for this one right here." Uncle Harvey gives Nialey a side hug keeping his eyes on me. I felt like crying because I haven't seen him in forever. " Well.."
Nialey chuckles, shaking her head. " I will wait in the car for y'all. Besides Dontae slow ass still can't find my house." I shake my head at her comment. " That's a crime shame." Nialey glances back before putting her hand onto the door nob. " Tell me about it. But he's our cousin." She laughs walking out the door.
My uncle Harvey hadn't taken his attention off me not once. When I gave him my attention back it was a shocker. I've never seen him look down upon me like this before.
" Chi." He takes a deep breath, leaning on the wall with his arms crossing over his chest. Oh no he was going to make me cry. " You are truly a mother now." I nod. My hand comes up to my eyes dapping them just a bit. " I'm sorry uncle didn't mean to make you cry. It's just the thought of the little girl that I knew all too well when you were younger whew.." he lets out a breathe. " The moment I seen that big belly I said ' She's grown up', ' She's living her life'."
" Yeah." I flip my hair behind my ears. " I am. I love every moment of motherhood as well." A slow smile spreads across his lips. " I'm glad to hear that. I've also heard a little something something about your child's father from big mouth Dontae." We both sigh, rolling our eyes.
" I knew from that one time I stole some cookies from Aunt Mic that he wouldn't be able to hold water."
" Still can't till this day. Just a big gossiper. You know he's planning on taking those steps into asking that girl of his to officially be his." My Uncle Harvey held up his ring finger signaling me. My eyes went wide with my mouth flying wide open. " Serious?! I mean she's been the longest relationship he's ever been in." My Uncle nods. " I think she's good for him. Even though she already has a baby he loves that little girl with all his heart." I gush. I felt so good to finally be able to hear some good news with my own family, it's been a while. I felt some type of way that the gossiper hadn't called me up these days and told me about his own life, then again knew that life can be crazy at time so I didn't blame him at all.
" I'm so proud of him. He's really grown into the best young man that we had faith he would be."
" Exactly." My uncle wears a satisfied expression.
I clear my throat. " I went to go visit my dad's tombstone." My uncle's eyes bucked. " How'd that go ?"
I blink back the tears. " Started off good, ended to be a venting session with me crying so bad." The corners of his mouth turn down with a sympathetic expression on his face. " I knew that couldn't be easy but you needed it. It was now or later besides your officially back in Texas aren't you ?"
" Yes."
" Good. You bring the baby with you ?" I nod turning around, pecking around the corner seeing my mother playing with Treasure. " That day she'd been the most calmest. Didn't do too much fussing changing her diaper nor during feeding time." His face had told me he'd been impressed. " He's still here with us."
" I knew from that moment he was."
My Uncle Harvey had opened his mouth yet a car horn had been heard. " I guess that's them telling me to hurry up." He chuckles. " They can wait. Naw let me let you get back to your day. It's good seeing you Chi. You have this type of empowering glow about yourself." He points his index finger at me. " I love to see it. Keep up the good work baby girl, also when you do get back I wanna hear about this ' Gionni ' ." He used air quotations with his fingers.
