" You surely will go into labor after this. You do know their gonna wanna walk you until your water breaks right ?" My mother questions as she helps me out the car. I take a moment to catch my breath, lately everything I've been doing has me extremely out of breath.
" They'll be disappointed to hear today or the next day that she still hasn't come yet. Treasure is stubborn mama." We chuckle. I fully get out the way so she could close the door. " I'm already knowing baby girl. I walked for three weeks straight before your big headed self came. Those walks were worth it too."
I shake my head. We both proceed to walk to the front porch of my cousin Nialey's house. She rings the doorbell, if I held my breath long enough and used my ears more I'd hear the music that was playing inside. " I really hope they hear us. These feet's of mine can't be stood on too long." My mother looks down at my feet. " Those shoes are cute! This reminds me that we need to go shoe shopping for the baby and myself." I sigh, laughing at her.
" Mama she won't need shoes until she's at least two months. Until then she'll wore those little white and black socks that have the painting of shoes." She held her hands up in surrender.
" What ever you say baby girl. She's yours." I nod, feeling satisfied.
We turn our attention back towards the door when the locks were being turned which meant it was being unlocked. Seconds later my uncle Harvey stood at the door, shocked and surprised to see me. " Well, Well, Well if it isn't little miss college girl." He opens the door allowing my mother in and pulling me into a hug the best he could since my belly was out front and center. " Been a long while since we seen you baby girl. How's life been treating ya ?"
The smile plastered on my face was unmatched at my happiness to be around family. " Life's been wonderful. Expecting my first child." I gush laying my hand on my belly. " I see." His hands go onto his hips taking a step back admiring me. " I remember when you were just a little kid yourself. I'm so happy for you Chi. Congratulations on the bundle of joy." His smile widens on his face. " Now tell ya favorite uncle its a boy." I laugh shaking my head no.
" No. it's a girl." He does a dramatic ass gasp, making both me and my mother laugh.
" Your not the only one that's a bit disappointed." My mother adds her two cents. " I believed that it was a boy and whole time it's a girl." My uncle sucks his teeth still with a smile plastered on his face. " Welp it doesn't matter. You should already know baby girl will be spoiled."
" Oh you don't have to tell me that. My mother can't resist to not buy anything in any store for baby girl." I point over to my mother who walked away greeting the rest of our family. " Treasure, already has so much at her grandmother house it's truly ridiculous." I said shaking my head.
" Well it's your mother's first grandchild." He says. " I'm gonna let you speak to the rest of the family. Again congratulations on the baby. I'm so proud of you gorgeous! Now don't be stingy when you have her. I want updates everyday." I nod, tucking a piece of my hair behind my ear. " I'll do that for you. It was so nice seeing you Uncle Harvey." He nods.
I quick go around the room spending as much time with them as I could and answering their questions.
" Chi, my favorite cousin." Nialey being dramatic pokes out her bottom lip giving me a hug. " I've missed you so much boo. Glad to see your doing so well."
" Thank you." She lets out a breathe. " It's been such a journey one that I of course didn't go through alone. I'm just so happy and refreshed to finally check off an item off my list you know ?" I nod because I semi knew what it felt like. We were alike in that way. Always setting goals for ourselves and never giving up no matter how hard it got. " Congratulations boo. I'm so happy and proud of you." I take a look around at the setting before me.
