I turned around when I heard the door open and I knew that it was Vain. It was hard trying to pretend like nothing happened. I remember what Gian said and I was going to try my best to pretend like I was still his wife. I placed my hand on the counter and closed my eyes trying to stop the racing of my heart. Gian left yesterday and I felt like it would be a good idea for him to leave. He sent Vain a text saying that something came up and he needed to go. I was happy to have the house to myself anyway because I wanted to cry. I was upset and I felt betrayed by everything that happened. I knew that I should have never trusted Vain but I did. I knew that I should have never loved him but I did. I was angry with myself for not questioning Vain more. I was so in love with him that I was blind to what he was doing to me. I should have known that he was never going to allow me into his family. Why would they break their bloodline? I turned around and faked a smile when I heard him walk in.
"Hey, welcome back. How was your trip back?"
He sighed and threw his jacket on the couch. "Long, I'm happy to be home. Are you okay?"
I nodded my head and turned to stir the pasta in the pot. I was trying to distract myself and I knew that cooking always took my mind off of stress. He came up behind me and hugged me and I closed my eyes trying to tolerate his hands on me. "Well, dinner will be ready soon."
He kissed the top of my head, "it smells great and I'm starving."
I turned to face him slowly. I kept repeating in my head to stay calm and play it cool. Act like nothing is wrong and you will be fine. I placed my hand on his chest, "can I talk to you about something?"
He ran his fingers through his hair, "sure. But can we talk during dinner? I need to take a shower."
I nodded slowly and stood on my tiptoes to kiss him. He entangled his hands in my hair and pulled me close. I moaned softly and he smirked pulling away. "I've missed you, Amore."
"I've missed you too baby." I watched him walk away and I smiled waiting for him to disappear upstairs. I walked towards the stairs and waited to hear the shower turn on. When I heard it start, I waited another few minutes before running towards the couch to look in his jacket for his phone. I grabbed his jacket and stuffed my hand in the pocket. I grabbed his phone and unlocked it quickly. I sat down on the couch and went straight to his text messages. My heart was pounding in my chest but I had to know.
Carmella was the first on the list, I clicked on her name and there I saw her asking him to call her. She said that she missed him and it had been a while since she saw him. I clicked out of the messages and clicked on another name. the name for the contact was Marina.
