Summary: An inside look into James' mind as he receives a call from Mary explaining Erin's situation on prom night.
Mary sat in the kitchen watching her daughter fiddle her thumbs at the table, looking at the clock. An good forty five minutes had passed and she was still waiting for her date to pick her up.
He's not coming.
Mary knew her beloved Erin had been stood up by John-Paul O'Reilly. No one in the house wanted to say anything in fear of upsetting Erin anymore, although her tears slipping from her eyes didn't go unnoticed by Gerry, Mary or Sarah.
I need to do something. I can't let Erin sit here and feel like absolute shite.
"Excuse me." Mary whispered, getting up from the silent room. Erin didn't even look up, not even noticing her Ma leaving the room as she was too mortified to lift her head.
Mary knew she had to call James. He was one of Erin's best friends and quite frankly, the only lad in her daughters life that truly cared about her.
Dialling the Mallon household, Mary muttered a prayer, hoping the wee English fella hadn't left for the Doctor Who convention Erin had told her about.

James' tied on his scarf and looked at himself in the mirror. Although he was excited for his Doctor Who night, he had to admit- he did wish he could go to the prom night with his best friends. A part of him burned a bit with an emotion he wasn't familiar with.
Jealousy.
He wanted to be at the prom with his friends, but most inwardly, he was jealous about Erin's prom date. He wasn't even sure the feelings he had towards the blonde, yet, every-time she talked about John-Paul his heart sunk into his chest
His Aunt's voice downstairs broke him out of his thoughts, yelling for him to get the phone.
"It's Mary Quinn! She wants to talk to you."
What? Mary Quinn wants to talk to me?
"Okay! I'm coming!"
As James ran down the stairs, he wondered what was going on. Was there something wrong? It wasn't common for one of his best friends mum's to ring him specifically.
He snatched the phone from his Aunt. "Hello?"
"James!" She whispered. "Good, you haven't left yet."
"Why are you whispering?"
James heard Mary Quinn sniffle on the other side of the phone, and he knew something was wrong. "Mrs. Quinn- what's wrong??"
