4) I get lost and meet a hiply on crack
Why didn't I ask for my schedule back? Why did Jackie have to be on the other side of the campus? What am I supposed to do now?
Ok ok think, Payton, think! What class do you have next?
I'm leaning against the wall of the Prime Hall while I gather my thoughts.
What class, what class, what class?
"You know you have to get to your next class, right?" Liam smiled at me, almost as if he was telling me he was being sarcastic with his face. "What class do you have next?"
"Mind and soul in the library." I respond immediately. I have no idea how I remembered that so suddenly.
Liam smiled, a more genuine smile this time. "Hey, me too. We can fly over there together. Do you, by any chance, know where the library is?"
"Nope." I say. How I'm getting to class now, I have no idea.
"It's fine, I'll just ask my roommate to point us in the right direction." He said glancing over his shoulder. "Hey David! Where's the library?"
A cute guy who looked Jackie's age(not the age she looks the age she is) yelled back, "All the way across campus, good luck getting there in time, bro!" He flashed us two thumbs up, then walked in to the Prime Hall. He looked 17 and acted 14. No one looks their age here, so there's no knowing for sure how old he is.
"Right this way then, m'lady." Liam closed his eyes, inhaled, and his wings appeared. I quickly did the same and we took off. I can't help but admire his sleek, black wings. They look so soft, I must pet them.
We flew in silence for a few minutes until the library finally came into view. We knew it was the library because in giant letters, "library" was written above the doorway.
We landed, recoiled our wings, and headed towards the door. Liam opened the door saying, "Right this way m'lady." and bowing dramatically, holding the door open with his foot.
"Thank you kindly, ma'am." I say walking past him, tipping my imaginary hat. I hear him chuckle as he follows me into the library.
The library is bigger than any I've ever seen before, with shelves so high there are ladders scattered amongst them. The walls are lined with row upon row of books shelves. In the middle of the room sits a small group on the floor, all facing a strange meditating dude. His whole aura screams "70s on drugs." Wasn't the seventies already on drugs? He has a sweatband around his head, and another one around his long, grey beard. A sweatband. On his beard. Drugs were definitely involved in this and don't you dare tell me otherwise.
"Hippy professor. Awesomesauce." Liam whispers as we walk over to join the group. No, just no. You may not say 'awesomesauce' in my presence. I will have to slap you.
Instead of desks, we sit on yoga mats, which are surprisingly comfortable. I sat crossed legged on a bright green yoga mat, and Liam did the same right next to me. More and more kids/teens joined the group in a matter of minutes. I'm pretty sure all my classes are full of 13 year olds, despite the age they look. I guess you really can't judge a book by it's cover. Or angel, but close enough.
A few more people sit down on the neon yoga mats, and then the drugged hippy speaks. "Make yourselves comfortable now, we won't be moving until the end of class." a small few shifted on their mats as he continued, "I am Professor Green, bro, and I will be your Mind and Soul instructor for this school year, man. Today we will be learning about the mind of the angels, pretty sweet right?" He speaks slowly, and slightly old fashioned. Kinda like, oh I don't know, the 70s!
Prof. Green drones one about some stuff until he finally says something interesting, "Guardian Angels have the ability to speak to all beings through their minds, man. Angels, humans, animals, whatever. This is for those who are assigned a mortal person to protect, but any and all angels have the ability and option to use it. We also have, what you could call, telekinesis. The whole moving things with your mind gig, man."
I get mind powers too? Damn, I don't even mind being kidnapped in order to be here.
Prof. Green continues, and I eagerly listen. "And if you ever forget something, all you must do to remember is ask yourself the question out loud. Or have someone else do it, man. The bell will ring in two minutes, you may meditate until then."
"Mind powers, huh?" the girl to my right mutters to herself. I turn my head and see the all to familiar bleach blonde head of Riley.
Now, I could look the other way and avoid her, or I could say something and be like "surprise, bitch, it's me." I think I'll surprise her. People like that, right?
"Sounds like it." I say, just a little louder than a whisper. She looked at me so fast I could feel the air blow in my face. And the look on her face when she saw me? Aha, ha, ha. Priceless.
"Aren't you that weird girl from school? The quiet one with no friends? What are you even doing here?" Well, isn't Riley just the most pleasant being?
Pfft, I had friends.
"I could ask you that too, you know." I say shrugging, "You don't exactly have a glowing halo on your head, and even if you did, it would drown in your stringy bleached hair." Ohh, I'm so good at being good. Maybe I should just be super nice, that pisses people off when they don't like you.
"No speaking only meditating, manettes." Prof. Green said.
Riley scoffed and turned away. The class sat in silence for almost a minute, then we heard the bell and got up to leave.
And now is when I use my mind powers to remember my next class. "What's my next class and where is it?" I mutter.
"Not class, it's lunch now." Liam says before I can answed myself.
Lunch? Maybe I'll find Jackie there. Even though the Mess Hall is two buildings away, we fly there. It's two whole buildings away we have the right to fly.
And so, my journey continues as Liam and I fly towards the building of the best food on the planet... What if the academy isn't on the planet? What if it's in heaven? That makes sense, angels in heaven. Ok, ok, stop. You're crazy 'cause you're hungry.
