Max picked up his knapsack and went outside. The entrance to the inner part of the ship is so peaceful with the attendants standing guard. The ship started moving. Max looked at the whole deck and he could see blood covered victors of the brutal climb on the airship. They have these crazed looks in their eyes.
"After surviving that ordeal, one would have that look in their eyes." Max said to himself.
He turned to one of the attendants and asked, "Is there a place here where I can trade some goods?"
The attendant smiled and said, "You're in luck. Some members of the Trading Guild are on board at the bottom part of the ship. They are good friends with the magus in charge. Don't cause trouble."
"I understand. Thank you."
Max started to walk towards the end of the ship. Max just noticed how large the airship is. He walked for almost 20 minutes just to reach the end of the ship.
The Trading Guild is one of the most unusual clans within the Halsburg Kingdom. They do not solely exist in the kingdom. Basically, they are outsiders. They are allowed to enter and exit the kingdom as long as they only participate in trade.
Max already saw some people laying down the things they want to sell on wide pieces of fabric. Max browsed through the items with M giving him analysis on what might be useful for him. In the end, he traded three pieces of his rare fruits for a cloak that prevents release of magical energy, a pair of women's boots, and some bread and meat.
On his way back to their lodging, he saw the Kan clan berating the Jin clan survivors of the airship climb. They started torturing their slaves in front of them. Making them do things that would break every piece of pride a man has.
Rage immediately took over Max. He set his knapsack on the floor then unsheathed both of his swords. The crowd immediately took notice of Max.
"Foolish boy." One of the attendants said.
Max took a step forward and lowered his body. He opened his arms wide, bending his wrist to straighten his swords. He breathed heavily, one can almost see the silhouette of air coming in and out of his lungs.
A sudden crack on the floor boards. Max disappeared.
A member of the Kan clan whipping a slave suddenly felt a chill. He turned around and saw an alluring black blade before his eyes. He was in a daze for a moment then he noticed his head falling from his body. He can only see the curly black hair of the man who slayed him.
The Kan clan members were horrified and enraged to see one of their members decapitated. There were seven of them. The leader stood up and said, "Don't panic. He's only a single person and he will pay."
The members of the Kan clan drew their weapons. They specialize in using claymores so most of them are using it with an exception of one member using chains. The chain user threw his weapon to Max. It has a small scythe at the end of it. Max dodged it easily but the chain user suddenly pulled his weapon. It caught Max off guard. Max relied on his reflexes to deflect the scythe with his sword.
Max lost his balance in this exchange. He called out to M, "M, support me in this battle."
"Affirmative. Activating battle support system."
Max already tinkered with M. He set it up that M can automatically analyze the battlefield and provide help on a moment's notice.
"An attack from behind. Two meters."
Max lifted his hands, blocking the claymore with his swords. The momentum of the claymore forced him to kneel on one knee. A crack is visible on the floorboards of the ship. It seems like the power of the sword is being amplified by a spell. Fortunately, Max was able to take the hit.
