"i tried to ease up the tension between us since she hates me so much. i don't understand why she got so mad. her face was so red, i think she was about to explode from anger"
"uhm.." berthold and reiner were at a café together. berthold invited reiner, annie was the one to encourage him to do so.
"i'm not sure if that was the correct approach, annie" he said on the other side of the line.
"why not? anyone would see that i'm just trying to get along with her."
berthold looked at reiner. 'who's gonna tell her' written all over his face.
"she said i'm grossing her out. that reminded me of how you always tell berthold he's grossing you out, reiner. but he doesn't actually gross you out, does he?"
reiner just smirked.
"where is she now?" he asked after grabbing the phone out of berthold hands.
"left a couple minutes ago."
"has she said anything to you?"
"pff. she didn't even look at me."

annie thought about what she could do with this much of free time. she had the room for herself and the boys were out enjoying their date. just as she was about to leave the room the door opened.
mikasa bumped into annie.
"back already?" annie asked as mikasa rushed into the room.
"forgot something." mikasa rummaged through her shelve. she took a controler and went past annie to leave again.
"mikasa"
the girl startled up and turned around.
"what is it?"
"i didn't know you played games"
"...occasionally."
"when you're with eren?"
mikasa didn't respond.
"you're going to him, right? let me also play"
"no. we only have two controllers" mikasa was about to leave when she suddenly stopped again.
"...get ready." she said without turning around.
"we will switch. i'll give you two minutes, now hurry up."
annie just smirked in response and got ready.
the two walked through the halls of the university, the blonde walking a bit behind.
"thanks for taking me along!" she grinned. mikasa didn't answer.
the two entered the boys' room.
"you really brought her along! wow" eren got up from his bed. mikasa glared at him annoyed.
"so he told you to take me with you? there i was thinking you'd finally be nicer to me" annie shook eren's hand.
"so what're we playing?" she asked while hopping on reiner's bed.
eren showed her a few games and let her choose while mikasa headed out.
"where you goin'?" the boy asked, looking up.
"bathroom"
annie chose the game and put the disc inside the console.
"i'm really glad mikasa is finally opening up a bit more to new people" eren smiled.
"what? are you referring to me? i don't think it's called 'opening up' but rather 'shutting down'. all she does is either ignoring or insulting me"
"but i can see that she's willing to try it."
"hm, i'm not so sure about that. she hates me" the girl snickered.
"to me it seems like she's interested in you" as soon as he said that, he covered his mouth. annie's cheeks flushed a bit. the door opened and mikasa entered.
"..what do you mean by that..?" annie asked, not even noticing that mikasa was already back.
"what's going on here?" the raven head closed the door.
"why are you two so close? why does she look so flustered?" mikasa frowned.
"mika.. it's not really what it seems like"
"eren, get away from her." mikasa responded to her brother while sitting between the two.
"chill, i won't steal your brother away from you. gosh." annie moved a bit to the side.
"that's not-"
"mikasa. we're playing your favorite game" eren pointed at the screen.
"i thought you didn't like that game?"
"annie picked it. you two have the same taste, i guess." he winked.
mikasa elbowed him.
they played the game for a few hours while it was either eren and annie talking with each other or eren and mikasa. the two girls didn't really talk to each other a lot and eren seemed to notice.
"i'm getting hungry. i'll fetch some snacks." he said while getting up.
"i'll come with you" mikasa was about to get up when eren pushed her back down.
"i can do this alone" he smiled and left the room.
the two girls didn't say anything yet they sat real close to each other. their legs were touching.
"your body temperature is so high." mikasa pointed out.
"are you saying i'm hot?" annie raised an eyebrow.
"stop messing around. keep your dirty hands off my brother"
"i already told you i'm-"
"i don't want you to.. with someone..." mikasa mumbled barely audible for annie.
"what was that?"
"it's nothing."
mikasa shifted.
"just.. don't get too involved with eren." she said.
"oh, i won't." annie smirked.
mikasa felt herself heating up again. she felt relieved when eren finally came back.
"i brought some ice cream" he said and sat back next to mikasa.
she felt like he was reading her mind, since something cold was really what she needed in that moment.
the three all grabbed some ice cream and continued enjoying the evening. at least that's what mikasa tried but for some reason she couldn't really focus most of the time. she felt really hot and couldn't stand sitting right next to annie.
after a few hours eren turned off the tv and the three just held silent conversations. suddenly, mikasa felt something on her shoulder.
"h-hey! what the hell do you think you're-"
"mikasa" eren caught her off. "it's fine, isn't it?"
mikasa grumbled.
"why are you so obsessed with me getting along with her? you're not... into her by any chance?"
"are you a moron?" eren snickered.
"well, how would i know.."
eren leaned back and starred at the ceiling. mikasa starred at the floor.
a few minutes passed.
"hey, eren.."
"mh?" he kept his glance at the ceiling.
"how do you do that?"
"do what?"
"how do you get along with everyone?"
eren just smiled.
"i'm simply being me"
