The first story will be about Damon and Elena trapped in a cellar. Will they be able to escape? How will they tide themselves over until they do? This does not follow cannon and it doesn't take place at a certain point from the TV show. Maybe it takes place in season 3.

I woke up in the guest room in the boarding house. I stay here most nights since Jeremy is off at boarding school. It's an art school in New York and he seems happy. I talk to him a few times each week, but it never feels like we talk enough.

I can't stand going home to an empty house. Jenna and Alaric moved to Georgia after their wedding and are trying to start a family. I'm in my senior year of high school, it's tough being on my own so young. I reassure Jenna that I'm fine though, I don't want to keep her from her life.

So I have been sleeping at the boarding house for the last 3 or 4 weeks. It was nice at the beginning, having both Damon and Stefan as company. We had a few movie nights and ate some meals together. But that all changed when I broke up with Stefan last week. We had been together for over a year and the passion just wasn't there anymore. I felt that I wanted something different...something more. It would have been wrong of me to lead Stefan on any longer, so I told him how I was feeling. He was devastated, he said he couldn't stay in the same house as me so he left to who knows where.

"Elenaaa! are you just gonna lay in bed all day? I made you breakfast. Come get it" I heard Damon tease playfully from the kitchen downstairs.

Stefan left just over a week ago, leaving me and Damon to this large house. I'm starting to wonder if this is any better than staying at my own house. It almost feels the same. I know I have Damon here, but he's not always home anyway. Maybe I should just move back home.

Sighing, I climbed out from underneath the covers. I took a quick shower and got changed into comfy clothes before descending the stairs. It was winter break, so I planned to just relax at the house today. Christmas was in a few days so maybe I would do some last minute shopping. I passed through the parlor and entered the kitchen.

"It's about time" Damon rolled his eyes playfully, pushing a plate of burnt pancakes in front of me as I sat at the table.

There was no way I was eating that. "It is probably a sign to flip them once you smell the burning," I told Damon, poking the pancakes with my fork.

"Fine, don't eat them. I made them for myself anyways. Once I saw they were burnt I thought I should give them to you instead of the garbage." He smirked

Not knowing if he was serious or not, I responded, "Well thank you Damon, For being so considerate of my eating needs and giving me your messed up breakfast."

I dumped the pancakes in the trash and just grabbed an apple from the fruit bowl. We remained in a comfortable silence for a few minutes, him drinking blood from a blood bag and me eating the apple. I decided I was just going to stay here for the day. I could shop tomorrow. Plus, maybe me and Damon could do something together.

"So..." he broke the silence. "Have you heard from Stefan"

My face fell. I haven really discussed the details of my break-up with Damon. I told him we broke up and he was gone the next morning. Neither of us have heard from him since. I was just hoping I didn't send him off the deep end and into ripper mode. I never wanted to hurt him, I just needed to tell him the truth about my feelings.
