I agree with everyone else that the majority of western fans are pretty shit when it comes to animes/mangas. And you know what, I'm a western fan and I hate my own too! But, there's a line not to be crossed, for example, just because you see a western fan doesn't mean you immediately go an harass that person. Like with everything else, there are bad ones but there are also good ones.
I don't want to sound like I'm bragging or boasting about myself, but I think I'm a pretty good western fan: I support the creators as much as I can without putting myself into a hole and I wish I could even more but I unfortunately don't under Japanese, I support content-creators and everyone else along those lines, I keep to myself and don't self-insert myself into a conversation, and I respect everyone else's opinions and their ideas if it's reasonable in my terms!
This is specifically towards the MHA/BNHA fandom since I've seen more people here talk about it than anywhere else. So far, I've been harassed twice, probably by spam accounts or some shit like that, but it is directed at me being a western fan. And I get that they are pretty damn annoying, trust me, me and my brother loathe them as much as everyone else does, but don't assume that everyone is a bad one.
Anyway, I've gotten harassed twice as they said, "I noticed you write stories like a western fan," and "I noticed you draw like a western fan," along with this following, "the fandom doesn't need people like you, so do us all a favor and go get run over by a truck :)" Okay??? You got the western fan right, but everything else is wrong. You judge me like I'm one of those little shits who go ranting about things like how BakuDeku is a toxic relationship and everyone who supports that ship are stupid kids who can't possibly understand the bigger picture. Before even knowing me.
I just wanted to address this and get this off my chest, because yes, I hate the idiots of the western fans, but no, I don't hate every single one of them, of us. And I'm not directing this at anyone nor am I defending those idiot fans, but I only want to say please don't assume every western fan is a little shit pile.
I just wanna hug my broccoli boy, ship BakuDeku and Dekubowl, support other people whom I know I can never reach their levels and skills, and enjoy the beauty of the MHA/BNHA fandom úwù
