"What is wrong with you? Can both of you stop your silly games and start acting your age? This is not funny at all." Annoyance rose in Bani's voice as she tried again to open the locked door. Her effort went in vain.

"Whatever we did, we did for your good." Tapish and Meera stood on the other side of the door.

"Jiju you tricked me. You lied. You told me Meera Di got injured. That is the reason I drove to your house as fast as I could. Why did you lock me in this room with Veer?" Bani hit her palm continuously against the door begging them to open it.

"You need to stop pretending Bani. Tell Veer how you feel. Stop messing around with your own life." Meera was concerned.

" Daksh told me that Dad is going to officially announce Veer and Mayuri's engagement." Tapish spoke to Bani. "We cannot do anything for you until and unless you both make a decision for yourselves."

"We are leaving you alone. The door will be unlocked in an one hour. Pour your heart out and talk about anything and everything you want to." Meera said before walking behind Tapish to give Veer and Bani some alone time.
Bani looked at Veer leaning against the door frame. He was enjoying himself, busy playing with the tassles on the edge of her duppata. He looked cool as a cucumber. Does it not bother him that Meera and Tapish lied to them and locked them?

"Look, there are butterflies in the garden." Veer eyed towards the window.

"Do you think all this is a joke?" He could sense her anger.

"I knew what they were upto." He said casually.

"And you cared to do nothing about it?" She reprimanded.

"I have a solution for this situation."He suggested.

"What?"

"Marry me."

"Go and marry Mayuri and for heaven's sake stop playing with my duppata." She snatched it away from his hand.

"Stop speaking stupid things. Will you?" Veer held her arms and encaged her against the door frame.

"You have to realize that this won't work out. We are very different . We are not right for each other." Bani tried to push him away but he would not move. She gave up.

"We are perfect for each other."
"No we are not. We may be perfect for each other if we did not live in the real world. But I live in the real world and I need to build a life for myself. I desperately want to be a person who is worthy of you but I cannot." Tears formed in Bani's eyes.

"We have been through this before sweet heart. I understand that you are afraid to give our love a chance." Veer held her face.

"The thought of you being dissatisfied and unhappy in your life because of me breaks me from the inside Veer. I won't do this to you." She bunched his shirt in her fists.

"Do you love me?" He asked her straightforwardly.

"That is not the point."

"That is the point Bani."

"It is not." She tried to argue.

"It is the only thing that matters. Tell me the truth."

She looked away.

"Give me an answer." He made her look at him.

"Yes. I love you." She spoke the truth.

"When you love someone, you work it out. You don't throw it away. You have to  be careful with it.  You might never get it again." He looked into her eyes and bared his heart.

"But I know that I can't stay in this love." It is a frightening thought that she had fallen in the kind of love in a moment that will take a lifetime to get over.

" I will make you want to be with me Bani." He looked determined. Bani knew that he can move heaven and earth if it is for her.

"I love you enough right now Veer. What do you intend to do? Ruin me? Leave me with more scars?" Tears rolled down her cheeks.

"I want you to let me take care of you." He wiped them.

"There is nothing between us Veer."
He grabbed the back of her neck and pulled her closer closing the distance between them. Their lips almost touching.

"You call this nothing Bani Sharma?"

"Don't kiss me right now." She pleaded.

"I won't because if I do, I won't be able to stop."

"I don't deserve this. I don't deserve you."

"Don't you dare say that." He replied breathlessly.

"I don't. You are so amazing and sensitive and romantic and caring and someone like me does not deserve someone like you." She assured him. His grip tightened around his waist.

"Choosing someone to spend an entire lifetime with is a very important decision to make." She did not want him to take a wrong decision.

"I choose you. Only you. And I will keep choosing you. Again and again and again.

" But your father..."

He kept a finger on his lips. "Not a single word Bani. I have said this before and I will say it again. It is you and nobody else."

"Can we just stay friends Veer?" She removed his finger from her lips.
"Yes. I do want to be your friend." He nods and she can feel the slight movement of air in between them. "I want to be the friend you open your heart to. The one you take into your arms, into your bed and into the thoughts that are trapped into your mind. The one who will memorize everything you say and also the shape of your lips when you say it."

The wall clock caught Bani's attention. "I need to get out of here. I have to go to work."

Veer stepped back and walked towards the window to open it. He jumped out and held her hand to helped  her out.

"You go to work. I will catch up with Bhai Bhabhi." He spoke as he helped her straighten her duppata.

"I really like the tassles." He smiled. Bani did not say anything. Just walked away.
He was rooted to his spot when he saw her stop and turn after a few steps. He could see worry in her eyes. Panic too. Bani's mind went blank. Her heart was in her throat. She rushed towards him and wrapped her arms around him.

"This is more difficult than I thought it could be Veer." She sobbed.

"Don't worry sweet heart. Every thing is going to be okay. I promise you." He gently stroked her hair and kissed the top of her head.
