Bani is sitting on the edge of her bed staring into nothingness. Thinking how it had just taken a single day for her life to turn upside down. Every thing was falling apart. She wanted to cry but her tears had dried. She wanted to feel the pain but all she felt was numb. The time she  spent with her sister will never come back. She did not get the scholarship she was aiming for. It would have been a good opportunity for a new beginning.Today, she had decided that scholarship or not, she was going to leave Mumbai for her own good. Balwant had made it very clear that she has to stay away from Veer. She would not over step. She would not lose her heart to the failures she is facing. She will leave her heart in this place because she knows Veer will safe gaurd it.

She was lost in thoughts of how much he had helped her to get through the difficult day when her phone rung. It was him. What was he calling her at 4:00 A. M.? A part of her got worried that he may be the bearer of some more bad news. She would have picked up the phone asked him if he was okay but she did not have the energy to talk to anyone right now. She chose to stay occupied with the memories of her past where she was with the people she loved and the possibilities of a future where she will be completely alone. The phone rang again. She closed her eyes and sighed. She knew how stubborn Veer is. He will not breathe peacefully until she knows that she is okay. It rang for the third time and then the fourth.  She decided to pick it up before he pulls of a whimsical stunt.

"Hello?" Her greeting was more like a doubt about why he needed to talk to her at this time.

"Open the door." She heard his calm but lethal voice. She immediately got up from the bed and hurried to open the door. He was standing outside. His face was expressionless. She had to take a step back when he entered her house. He noticed injuries on her arm.

"How did you get hurt?" He asked and turned to go to the drawer where she keeps the first aid kit.

"Skip it Veer. I don't need you to baby me. I am okay." Bani blurted. She understood from his body language and demeanor that whatever the conversation is going to be, it is important. It is when he kept the file on the coffee table that he brought with him, she realized what it is really going to be about.

Veer took the first aid box and made her sit on the couch to apply medicine on her bruises. "What do you want Veer? What are you here for?" Bani asked. It pained a little when he held her hand to take care of the hurt.

"I am here because I need answers Bani. I need to the truth." Veer looked her straight kn the eye.

"About?" Bani knew exactly where the conversation was going but she still asked him.

"I was going through Tapish Bhai's cupboard when I found this file.  What utterly confused me was that why was your name written on the file. I saw reports dated two days back of a successful gestational surrogacy through in vitro fertilization. Can you explain what is it that I don't know?"

Pure shock washed over Bani's face after what Veer had said. She was hopeful but the doctor had asked her not to keep high expectations because the chances of the process being successful were very low.

"Talk to me Bani. What is going on? I am worried." Veer shook her slightly bringing her back from her stupor of abstraction.

"Di and Jiju were struggling to have a baby. The pregnancy could be high risk of Di conceived. I wanted to help them." Bani spoke honestly.

"You surrogated Bhai and Bhabhi's baby?" Veer was stunned. He knew Tapish and Meera were longing for a child but he did not have the slightest idea that Bani was involved too.

"Why did anybody not tell me?" Veer felt betrayed. His heart broke. He thought there were no secrets between him and his brothers. How can Tapish hide something so important from him.
